Chapa-De Indian Health is a non-profit community outpatient health center with a mission to advance the health and well-being of American Indians and low income individuals living in our communities by providing convenient access to high quality, compassionate care.

Chapa-De is seeking a Part-time Registered Dental Hygienist to work 1 day per week at their clinic in Grass Valley, CA. Schedule will be Thursday 10 AM-7:30 PM. Additional days and hours available.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Dental Hygienist will provide Oral Hygiene care and instruction to the agency Dental population; assist in coordinating the department's prevention/education services.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

Scaling of teeth to remove supra and subgingival deposits of calculus.

Soft tissue curettage and root planing for treatment of periodontal disease.

Polishing of teeth with rubber cup or prophy brush to remove stains and plaque.

Application of pit and fissure sealants.

Application of non-aerosol and non-caustic topical agents (fluoride, anesthetic).

Polish and contour restorations.

Oral hygiene instruction.

Examination of charting of patients oral condition, including probing and charting.

Exposing and developing of dental X-rays.

Administration of local anesthetics.

Cleans and disinfects unit between patients.

Coordinate with other Departments to insure oral hygiene education, nutrition, and follow-up care throughout the service area.

Maintain currency through continued education courses and meetings.

Any other duties as prescribed by the supervising Dentist in keeping with the limitations of the State Dental Practices Act of Dental Hygienists.

Understand and promote the mission, vision, and values of Chapa-De both in the work place and in the community.

Maintain compliance with all state and federal laws and regulations, as they pertain to position including; HIPAA, Scope of Practice, Accreditation Standards, OSHA, and the Agency's Policies & Procedures.

Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

Graduate of an approved Dental Hygiene Training Course.

One year experience in a clinical setting.

Current California State Dental Hygiene License.

Current CPR and Radiation Licenses.

Working computer knowledge including email, word processing and data entry.

Current CDL, clean DMV printout and proof of auto insurance.

Preference in hiring is given to qualified Native Americans in accordance with the Indian Preference Act (Title 25, US Code, Section 472 and 473). Applicants claiming Indian Preference must submit verification of Indian certified by tribe of affiliation or other acceptable documentation of Indian heritage.
