Mountain Valley Child and Family Services (MVCFS) provides individualized treatment for troubled youth and teens, ages 10-21 in residential treatment in Nevada City and Sacramento, and TBS services throughout the Bay Area.

Our 900-acre ranch outside Grass Valley, CA provides a therapeutic setting where we facilitate individual and group activities to support the goals of our residential program. The ranch is an ideal environment for troubled youth to learn about themselves and deal with their behavioral and emotional challenges by exploring new interests such as tending gardens, caring for animals, hiking, mountain biking, sports and other extracurricular activities.

MVCFS is currently seeking an Activity Coordinator at our Nevada City location. The Activity Coordinator is primarily responsible for helping the Residential Supervisors establish a wide variety of appropriate activities for the children placed in their care.

Duties:

This is a full time position. The activity coordinator is responsible for organizing and facilitating activities for our clients. They will also be responsible for training employees on how to carry out the activity properly. They will review and sign off on weekly activity schedules, prior to them being posted in each house. They will be responsible to provide training to staff on how to facilitate all activities that are listed on the schedule and to make facility checks to ensure that the activity schedules are being followed and that staff are participating. They must develop and post a monthly activity calendar including all planned outings, events, etc.

The activity coordinator shall plan activities that: require group interaction, physical, leisure time, educational, activities which meet training, personal care, grooming, and community activities.

Minimum Qualifications:

Must possess a BA in Recreation and leisure studies, Parks and Recreation, or a related field. Or have taken at least 15 units in same or related fields.

Must have at least 2 years experience working with and organizing activities for emotionally disturbed adolescents.

21 years or older

Strong written, verbal, and organizational skills

Ability to work as a part of a multidisciplinary team with a diverse population of clients

Ability to utilize Microsoft Office applications, Email, electronic health record systems

Excellent judgment and problem-solving skills, able to assume responsibility and make situational decisions in times of crisis / potential danger, build positive relationships, posses exceptional written and verbal communication skills, keen behavioral observations, ability to walk, run, bend, climb, and lift.

Will successfully complete a DOJ Criminal Background Check, Drug Screen, and provide a DMV record
