Position Summary: Produce designs and algorithms regarding various images and storage systems. Perform R&D of new processing techniques for use in upcoming products. Provide analytical support of image processing system performance to the product development teams. Design test fixtures and tooling, test procedures, and other manufacturing support. Perform competitive analyses.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Analyses and Modeling
Perform system modeling of camera systems components, which include imagers, CDS sampling, and digital image processing.
Perform system modeling of image compression algorithms including MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 standards.
Determine, where appropriate, empirical methods to validate analytical models. If necessary, update the model assumptions and/or empirical methods to correlate the results.
Document the results of the analyses in technical reports.
Develop image processing algorithms for various device-related sensors
Research and develop new image processing techniques
Project Development Teams Support
Provide objective image analysis and image compression
Contribute design ideas, constraints, trade-offs, and concerns to the Project Teams
Review and understand the following standards
Image Compression Standards (MPEG-2 and MPEG-4)
Image Storage Hardware Performance
Image Storage File Formats
Provide support and technical direction for the generation and maintenance testing.
Will spend part of his/her time as a member of continuous improvement teams undertaking projects and seeking ways to improve the quality of KSI's products and services.

Performs other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications: (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

Algorithm Development
Low-Level Embedded Developer with Imaging Processing Experience
Review and understand the following standards:
- Image Compression Standards (MPEG-2 and MPEG-4)
- Image Storage Hardware Performance (DVD, BluRay, HD-DVD)
- Image Storage File Formats (tiff, BMP)
Sensors Experience (CAN - Wiring - I2C - USB)
Experience with; Camera's/Optics/Pixels
What the underlying software does within the toolkit.
General Engineering
Simulation experience (Understanding)
Matlab/Simulink
DSP/FPGA knowledge

Preferred Qualifications:

QNX Experience
DSP knowledge
Low-level development experience

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

Visual acuity sufficient for testing
Ability to sit for extended periods (during meetings and computer work)
Ability to lift video equipment
Ability to connect electrical devices
