All current and newly hired employees are required to follow onsite safety measures based upon the COVID-19 Community Level at the specific work location.Description:Lockheed Martin's Santa Barbara Focalplane Infrared Sensors Business is seeking a seasoned Electro-Optical Systems Engineer to join our team on-site in Goleta, CA. -In this exciting and groundbreaking role, the Electro-Optical Systems Engineer will have the opportunity to shape and develop bleeding edge infrared (IR) sensor products and support existing industry leading infrared (IR) sensor products currently in production. -The engineer will have the opportunity to lead technical efforts in the development of IR sensors for Tactical and Space based applications. -The engineer will have the opportunity to perform EO/IR modeling to support development and validation of system concepts. -The engineer will have the opportunity to be a technical lead and create technical execution plans, monitor program technical tasks, and assist program management in tracking schedules, budgets, and earned value. -The engineer will have the opportunity to lead or guide other engineers and technicians as they perform optical tasks to meet program requirements. -The engineer will have the opportunity to perform system debugging/troubleshooting.-The engineer will have the opportunity to provide technical direction and support to production operations efforts.-The engineer will have the opportunity to collaborate on cross functional teams with other engineering disciplines. -The engineer will have the opportunity to routinely research and review related advancements in technology and keep up-to-date on related industry best practices. -We offer a continuous learning environment with strong career growth and advancement opportunities. -Our Santa Barbara Focalplane (SBF) site (in Goleta) offers the opportunity to work at a small site with a big impact for a legendary corporation. The Locale: Goleta is a city in southern Santa Barbara County, California. Goleta is part of the central coast region of California and offers lots of great scenery and is a great place to live and to raise a family. The region is known primarily for agriculture and tourism. Major crops include wine grapes, lettuce, strawberries, and artichokes. Goleta is near the University of California, Santa Barbara campus. Much of Goleta is considered to be a quiet suburban community while Santa Barbara tends to attract most of the tourists and the area's residents. Goleta is about 8 miles west of the city of Santa Barbara, along the coast (the coast runs east to west in this portion of southern California). Where can you drive to from Goleta? Goleta is 2 hours northwest of Los Angeles. San Francisco is about 5 hours to the north of Goleta. Las Vegas, NV is about 5 hours to the northeast.

#mfc22Basic Qualifications:-Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in electrical engineer, computer engineering, physics, mathematics, or related technical field-System engineering background-Experience with optical sensors or imaging system development, testing, and characterization-Strong presentation and written communications skills-Experience interacting with customers and or suppliers supporting complex products -Ability to be a technical program lead / POC tracking cost, schedules, and performance milestones.-Understanding of infrared sensor systems and supporting optical systems.-Troubleshooting and investigating failures of sophisticated hardware.-Ability to obtain a security clearanceDesired Skills:-Master's degree or PhD from an accredited college in related discipline-Transition of high technology product from Development to Production-Experience with performance of optical sensors and IR camera systems-Experience with space environmental requirements and how to mitigate their effects-CMOS circuit experience-Understanding of FPA manufacturing technologies-Closed cycle cryogenic system and vacuum packaging-MATLAB programming and modeling experience -Radiometric testing and of IR systems or sensors-Background or familiarity with electronics and equipment related to infrared video collection, and test (frame grabbers, black bodies, lenses, optical elements) -Understanding of reliability engineering and 6 sigma principles.

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
