Job Description

Scope of Position

Our Internship program offers challenging, hands-on, and structured exposure to the world of Logistics. You will be working in conjunction with our Expeditors' Ocean Export Customer Service Agents learning the process, terminology, and skills required to be successful in a fast-paced logistics operation.

This is a paid position and typically is 3 to 4 months in duration.

We are looking for full time (40/HR/Week) and part time (15-20/HR/Week). The full time schedule will be Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm and overtime if required. Please note the job requires the candidate to commute to Hawthorne, California.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Track and Trace international shipment
  • Assist with making carrier bookings
  • Learn and understand department process flow
  • Learn and assist with Customer Service agents with meeting KPI standards, as per the company procedures
  • Assist customer service representative by ensuring accurate and timely data entry into Expeditors Customs entry system
  • Assist with communications, and timely responses to emails and requests (internal and with service providers)
  • Assist with logging and processing cargo in our weekly consolidations
  • Assist with accurate and timely client invoicing
  • Meet compliance at all times to regulations. This includes internal policies and procedures such as Operational Process Standards (OPS) and external government regulations or customer’s policies / requirements.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Degree or equivalent required
  • Successful candidates must pass a background check
  • Good computer skills (Word, Excel, and familiarity with PowerPoint)
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Must not require future sponsorship for employment Visa
  • Must have the ability to work overtime in support of the department needs
  • Fluent in English, both written and verbal
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize throughout the workday while remaining focused and organized
  • Demonstrated ability to be pro-active in thought and action
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Analytical with a strong attention to detail
  • Effective interpersonal skills, including proven ability to listen, comprehend, effectively communicate clearly and concisely to obtain positive results
  • Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment
  • Willing to pitch in and help on last minute projects or assist team members
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Comfortable with numbers and basic mathematical skills
  • Has a demonstrated strong work ethic,and reliability
  • Comfortable working in a professional business environment
  • Must be able to commute to the city of Hawthorne, CA

Desired Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate Degree earned or in progress
  • Focus in supply chain management or relevant courses
