SummaryAbout the Position: This position is located in the Civilian Human Personnel Advisory Center (CPAC) at Sierra Army Depot. With the exception of Fire and Police, employees work a 4 day-10 hour work week, Monday through Thursday, 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sierra Army Depot is located in the rural northeast California town of Herlong, California. The Depot serves as an Army Expeditionary Logistical Support Center.ResponsibilitiesProvide technical support for all Human Resource SpecialistsProvide human resource advisory services to customers.Review personnel requests to determine nature of staffing action.Write vacancy announcements for clerical and technical positions.Run reports in personnel-specific software to inform staff of potential errors in data.Duties at the GS-05 and GS-06 level are performed under greater supervision and are tailored to train and prepare the incumbent for promotion into the target grade of GS-07.RequirementsConditions of EmploymentQualificationsWho May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experiance requirements described below. Qualifications at the GS-05 Level: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes preparing and maintaining records and other documentation to ensure completeness and accuracy; experience using personal computer to access various software programs utilizing online resources to obtain information This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).OREducation: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.ORCombination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages. Qualifications at the GS-06 Level: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing a variety of administrative support functions including ability to use automated systems to enter and retrieve personnel data for creating reports and for other personnel informational requirements This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).OREducation: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Business Administration.ORCombination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages. Qualifications at the GS-07 Level: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes arranging conferences, including location, schedule, agenda, and attendance list; maintaining a filing system and office calendar of meetings for management and staff; receiving telephone calls and visitors providing routine and non-routine information as needed; conducting orientation sessions with new employees; utilizing an automated personnel database to do a variety of tasks; and preparing rough drafts, documents, written instructions, or brief oral statements for management. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).OREducation: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Business Administration.ORCombination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18.
