The Speech-Language Pathologist assists in developing speech and language skills to facilitate the personal, social, and intellectual development of IECP clients in all four Redwood Coast counties we support. In order to respond to the individual needs and abilities of the people we support, the Speech-Language Pathologist must work closely with the clients network of support, including staff, families and schools to ensure effective and appropriate communication strategies.

Qualifications:

1. Masters degree from an accredited college/university.

2. Current California Speech Pathologist License.

3. Livescan Fingerprint clearance

4. Cleared TB Screening

5. Experience working with children or adults

6. Reliable transportation

7. Desire to continue career improvement.

Essential Functions:

1. Assist in developing speech and language skills to facilitate personal, social, and intellectual development.

2. Establish a positive learning environment and respond to the individual needs of clients and their families.

3. Ensure that all interventions conform to IECP inclusive philosophy.

4. Communicate effectively with all members of the behavior support team, family, school district, cooperative, and community.

5. Work effectively with community organizations.

6. Appropriately operate all equipment as required (AAC devices, assistive technology, etc.).

7. React to change productively and handle other tasks as assigned.

8. Support the value of inclusion and immersion.

9. Requires travel in 4 counties in Northern California (Del Norte, Humboldt, Lake and Mendocino).

General Responsibilities:

1. Assist in the development of behavior support goals with an emphasis on functional communication.

2. Monitor client progress and make informed, timely decisions regarding communication supports.

3. Conduct speech and language screenings, AAC assessments, and initial behavior support assessments to determine the need for clinical services.

4. Participate as a team member in the comprehensive evaluation, review, and development of behavior support plans.

5. Adhere to required program guidelines as defined by the regional director.

6. Consult with parents, direct staff, teachers, administrators, and others concerning the communication needs of students and special services that are available.

7. Provide therapy, trainings, consultation and follow up, based on the individual client’s needs.

8. Maintain appropriate, confidential records and provide timely reports.

9. Supervise and train staff members as assigned.

10. Assist with public awareness activities which lead to a better understanding of the needs of exceptional children and adults.

11. Keep abreast of new information, innovative ideas, and techniques.

12. Other duties as assigned by the regional director.
