Job Title: Human Resources Administrative Assistant

Division: Executive

Section: Human Resources

Location: Potawot Health Village, Arcata

Shift: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Confidentiality, Organization, Customer Service, Computer Software Proficiency? If that is you, consider joining our HR team and provide administrative support to the Director, Supervisor, and Recruiter, coordinate new employee orientation, maintain employment records, assist in tracking leaves of absence, and scheduling interviews.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Ability to operate standard office equipment (copier, fax, etc.).

Maintains Human Resources personnel, confidential and medical files.

Assists in responding to Employee Development Department (EDD) Tribal First, Occupational Health, and other related agencies. Keep HR Supervisor informed about all HR related correspondence.

Creates and maintains database and spreadsheets as appropriate.

Prepares minutes, correspondence, reports, proposals, and various paperwork as directed within set deadlines.

Assist in all areas of Human Resources. Supports HR Technician - Recruiting and Training approximately 25% and HR Director approximately 20% of time.

Maintains a professional, organized, and clean working environment by following organizational policies, guidelines, and safety standards.

Must be able to work with American Indian people and be sensitive to their culture.

Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve the Mission, Vision and Guiding principles of UIHS.

Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Educational degrees must be from a US Department of Education accredited school.

High School Diploma and two or more years' work experience in administrative capacity with demonstrated skills.

Must have general understanding of Human Resources and related functions.

COMPUTER OPERATIONS

Demonstrated use database programs to include modification of structure and intermediate custom reporting, intermediate software packages - word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.

LANUGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

Must possess a valid drivers' license.

Must be able to be insured under the agency's vehicle policy.

Must provide proof of valid private vehicle insurance.
