A unique opportunity in non-profit arts administration is available for qualifying applicants. The Snyder-Highland Foundation/Highland Art Center located in Weaverville, Ca. is looking to fill the open position of Managing Director for the organization. For 50 years the Snyder Highland Foundation and Highland Art Center has been a staple in the Trinity County arts community, offering monthly special exhibitions highlighting regional artists, art sales, a meadow for events, artist studios and support for the arts community. This rare opportunity to manage the facility is truly a rewarding role for the right candidate.

Qualifying applicants must be community oriented and well experienced in administration, delegation, and kindness. The ideal candidate is tech savvy, with marketing skills and the consistent ability to multi-task with deadlines is a must. We are looking for an independent self-starter who can take initiative and remain calm under pressure and treat everyone equally with positive engagement.

We are looking for an individual with the ability to run an organization and work towards the future while managing the everyday tasks. Event management, property management and staff management are important components in this role. The managing director currently oversees two assistants and independent contractors that include a landscaper and gardener as well as other contractors as needed and coordinates volunteers. Experience in curating, installing shows and take down, as well as merchandising and inventory management is strongly preferred. Bookkeeping and Point of Sale experience is essential. Documentation and record keeping experience are also necessary as is sales, knowledge of the arts and the ability to engage in art related topics.

The Managing Director works efficiently under the guidance and direction of a Board of Directors reporting with monthly financials and consistent art center updates that include details of operations, property management, events and exhibition as well as other aspects of the organization as necessary.

Essential Job Duties include but are not limited to:

-Bookkeeping, payroll, cash management, record keeping and reporting

-Hiring, training and management of staff, independent contractors and volunteers

-Management of daily operations, sales, inventory and monthly/annual events

-Property management of buildings and grounds including events meadow and public gardens, and art studios

- Curating, merchandising, inventory management

-Web and social media content and updates

- Software knowledge of QuickBooks, MS Office, Adobe Creative Suite

-Marketing and promotion of events and exhibitions with press releases and newsletters

The ideal candidate will possess:

- Independence as a self-starter

- A goal oriented mindset with the ability to focus on the future

- Basic handyman skills including wall prep and paint experience

- A passion for art

- The ability to speak positive and encourage artists and our community

- A community minded focus and ability to be inclusive and accepting

-Strong customer service skills, the ability to problem solve under pressure

- Management experience and the ability to delegate and speak clear and concise to convey a list of tasks to staff/assistants/volunteers and communicate with event participants and other organizations

- The ability to occasionally juggle demands and conflicting matters of importance and to multitask

- The ability to remain calm in possible stressful situations
