The mission of the AFACTR AmeriCorps program is to strengthen Humboldt County communities and families through collaborative work with Family Resource Centers and Child Welfare Services. AFACTR (Assisting Families to Access Change through Resources) AmeriCorps is a program administered by Redwood Community Action Agency. Position will provide families with basic case management, parenting lessons, and increasing the awareness of local resources members are helping to: reduce family isolation, create healthy families and improve outcomes of children and families who are in need and/or at risk for child abuse. AmeriCorps member will provide families with preventative case management, make referrals for families to needed local resources, teach nurturing parenting lessons, participate in national service days, and support positive family and community connections for children.

WHAT: Hupa Family Resource AFACTR position which is scheduled to begin mid-December 2020 and end June 30, 2021. This is a 900 hour position with 7 months to complete the hour’s requirement. Minimum requirements are: must be 21 years of age or older, U.S citizen or legal resident, High School graduate and some college, have good communication skills/experience working with the public. If offered a position you must pass a background check/fingerprinting, must have valid driver license, working car and current car insurance.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS: All members receive a $9,410 term living allowance which is divided and paid twice monthly in equal increments throughout the term, and education award of $3,097 and student loans can be put in forbearance during your term of service.
