Job SummaryThe purpose of the Machine Shop Technician consists on performing the manufacturing process for metal molds, fixture and tooling used for the manufacture of cannula following the drawings and specifications. This person will program and run CNC lathe operations.Essential Job Duties and ResponsibilitiesAssure that manufacturing operations follow all Good Manufacturing Practices and Procedures insuring that FDA and Quality Standards are met. At the beginning of the shift receives instructions from the area supervisor on tasks to perform during the working the day. Manufactures molds, fixtures and tooling used in production in accordance to released specifications. Repair of metal molds, in accordance to drawings and specifications, this activity includes; mold polish, engraving mold ID and others. Safety toe shoes are required. Supports production and maintenance areas as required. Keeps the work area neat and clean. Every employee must work following Nordson Medical safety manual guidelines at all times and is expected to have good manners to assure the highest level of working environment.Education and Experience Requirements High School diploma or Technical Degree. Ability to understand technical drawings. Understanding of common machine shop practices as well as maintenance knowledge is desired. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly required to use hands and fingers, handle or feel, frequently required to talk and hear, occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel and crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. Ability to work in machine shop and maintenance setting.Skills and Abilities Basic knowledge in lathe machines, milling machines and tools, normally used in machine shop areas. Basic CNC programming and machine setup. Knowledge and skill in the use of handling tools and measurement equipment. Able to operate a forklift. Capability to quickly dissect situations and solve problems. Good communication and ability to follow priorities and workload while working in a team environment.
