Are you interested in supporting a network of geographically distributed scientific laboratories?If so, we may have the ideal role for you as a Field Lab Support Specialist with our leading government integrator client in Irvine.This is a contract to hire opportunity. Due to federal security clearance requirements, applicant must be a United States Citizen with the ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance.Responsibilities of the Field Lab Support Specialist:- Develop and maintain SOPs for lab infrastructure support as well as technical and customer documentation
- Support up to twenty virtual and physical lab servers and up to 500 lab instruments, ensuring health and performance
- Manually update Microsoft patches, manually check lab instrument/computer/network switches connectivity on lab network
- Manually monitor disk health and storage consumption; replace any failed drives
- Leverage Backup Exec to monitor and troubleshoot backup agents on lab instruments
- Manage and maintain Symantec Endpoint Protection across servers
- Manage and report on IT lab equipment inventory
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent or at least 10 years of experience
- Recent experience using vSphere, native Dell tools, Backup Exec 14 & 20, and Cisco network switches
- Ability to create and maintain configuration documentation, systems and operations run books
- Strong customer-facing skills: customer service, interpersonal, consulting skills
- Motivated self-starter, capable of leading cross-functional teams to successfully deliver results
- Strong attention to detail, ability to focus and multitask in a busy and dynamic environment
- Strong project management skills and a commitment to quality
- Ability to work onsite five days/week
