The Lead Firmware Engineer is responsible for providing direction to the team with regards to coding architecture, practices, compilers, review, and documentation. Architect, design, and implement firmware in C, targeted for embedded processors on IoT devices. Our firmware runs on various types of ARM processors and interfaces with cellular modems, GPS receivers, BLE transceivers, communication busses, and various sensors. Many of our products are battery operated and designed to operate at low power.
Essential Skills:- Systems and protocols design for real time operating systems
- Firm understanding of build environments, compilers, code repositories (GIT), issue tracking (JIRA)
- Good coding practices
- Embedded C development in IOT products
- Experience with ST or Nordic MCU family
- Experience with Qualcomm IOT chipset design and tools
- Low power / battery-operated firmware design
- Experience with Cellular modems, Bluetooth, GPS
- Realtime OS (FreeRTOS, ThreadX, Nucleus), Linux experience
- Understanding of internet networking, UDP, TCP/IP
- Understanding robust, reliable design techniques, watchdogs
- Experience with UART, SPI, I2C, GPIO
- Experience designing and implementing secure firmware, ROTs, encryption
- Experience with Cloud based architectures (AWS, Azure)
- Experience with LTE cellular protocol stack
- Experience with vehicle telematics or CAN bus
- Bachelors degree/Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or a related field
- 10+ years of professional firmware development experience
- 3+ years in a technical leadership role
