Primary Location – Irvine, California V-Soft Consulting is currently seeking a

Sr. Data Scientist for our premier client in Irvine, California. This is a

full-time, direct hire position in the

IT services and IT consulting industry.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

Education and Experience »
  • Master’s degree or PhD in an analytical field such as statistics, mathematics, computer science, or similar
  • Formal training in statistical methodology including topics such as: probability theory, general statistical theory, modeling methods, machine learning, clustering, sampling, artificial intelligence, and similar
  • 5+ years of experience and be well versed on statistical theory and the latest machine learning techniques.
  • SQL expertise required
  • Python, SAS, or R experience required
  • Experience working with data in a variety of formats required
  • Experience processing and analyzing large data sets
  • Experience working in modeling/machine learning for at least 5 years
  • Experience with software for data manipulation, analysis, visualization such as Python, SAS, R, Tableau, etc.

Preferred
  • Retail experience
  • Experience with a formal programming language such as Python, C, C#, etc. highly desired
  • Data visualization/communication focus a plus
  • Experience presenting to c-level executives and at conferences to non-technical audiences
  • Experience in a client-focused environment

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities »
  • Strong time management skills, project management skills, manage multiple projects and responsibilities simultaneously
  • Demonstrated ability to apply statistical knowledge to analyze data with to identify trends, outliers, develop/evaluate predictive models, create reports, automate processes
  • Proficiency in PowerPoint & Excel
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability and willingness to work with a team
  • Excellent presentation skills desired

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

Job Responsibilities »
  • Handling of large data sets stored within a variety of data storage formats: Greenplum and SQL Server for example
  • Utilize SQL for data handling and manipulation
  • Analytical presentation, interpretation of results, and visualization
  • Designing and executing statistical testing strategies to evaluate products or models
  • Testing, QA, and implementation of models and other predictive tools in a production setting for use on millions of transactions/events
  • Monitor and improve current processes
  • Interact with clients to determine analysis specifications, product needs, and modeling initiatives
  • Responsible for working with large complex data sets to develop and improve analytical solutions and algorithms.
  • Perform analysis, developing machine learning and predictive modeling solutions, and to serve as an expert in the latest predictive technologies for the Data Science team.
