SummaryThe Laboratory Assistant will perform data entry and laboratory specimen processing; organize and process orders and support the Sharp Experience to provide excellent customer service. Performs clerical functions related to patient reception. Checks working materials inventory, including expiration dates, and demonstrates ability to evaluate consumable levels to prevent shortages and expired supplies, and alerts ordering personnel in a timely manner. Works in a team environment and also be able to work independently with minimal supervision.Sharp Grossmont Laboratory is a large state-of-the-art clinical laboratory that supports a 536-bed hospital with Oncology, Women’s Services, Behavioral Health and the busiest emergency department in San Diego. Lab disciplines include Chemistry, Hematology, Coagulation, Urinalysis, Microbiology, Pathology and Blood Bank. The laboratory has an extensive Outreach program that is supported by three outpatient service centers. High School Diploma or equivalent
Excellent direct customer service, communication and critical thinking skills
Computer skills, data entry proficiency
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
College coursework in Chemistry or Biology
One year recent Clinical Laboratory experience
Specimen handling and transporting experience
