Find your future with us.The Boeing Commercial Airplanes ( BCA ), Payloads Core team has an exciting opportunity for a proactive Experienced Payloads Design Engineer to join the team in Long Beach , CA .Experienced Payloads Design Engineers are responsible for the development, design and integration of interiors products into new and existing BCA Production/Out of Production aircraft and supports Service Engineering in response to program and customer requirements.Excellent written and oral communication are essential project management skills as this position requires working in cross functional domains.Position Responsibilities:Analyzes and resolves design problems, able to develop and assist others with resolving design discrepancies.Provide design expertise and technical knowledge to resolve customer inquiries, investigate and evaluate Potential Safety Issues by working through the safety process (COSP/SRP) for Out of Production fleet sustainment.Maintain design responsibility of interiors for all OOP (Out of Production) airplane models (707, 727, 737-200/-300/-400/-500, 747, 757, DC-8, DC-9, MD80, MD90, MD10, MD11).Ability to communicate with technical personnel from multiple skill areas/ functions and able to influence change as needed.Supports and/or leads the research of technical, operational and quality issues that cannot be resolved by the customer.Works under minimal direction and willing to mentor others.Use analytical skills to determine solutions and resolve problems.Meet assigned schedules, deadlines and overall project goals.This position may allow a hybrid option , selected candidates will be required to perform work onsite in Long Beach, CA.The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):Bachelor’s, Master's or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry.5+ years of experience working with aircraft structure and payload design.Experience using 3-D CAD design software, such as CATIA, ENOVIA, IVT, 3DX, DCAC, and LWG (Light Weight Graphics).Must have the capacity to apply industry standard analysis methods and techniques to continuously improve and optimize processes.Able to support regular and emergent domestic or international travel to support our customers. Willing to travel up to 10% of the time.Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):Experience with Payloads commodities and systemsGood verbal and written communication skills.Ability to present to senior leadershipAbility to collaborate with multiple team functions.Willingness to expand into technical areas without prior experience.Desire to continuously improve our airplanes.15.4 Payloads DAE credentials helpful but not mandatoryExperience reviewing/approving Service BulletinsExperience with Evacuation Systems and Water/Waste helpful but not mandatoryExperience researching OOP models utilizing BRIDGE and/or PRIMSTypical Education/Experience:Education acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master+3 years' related work experience).
