This is an entry-level position and will be located at the Anthem, Inc. headquartersin Indianapolis .The Anthem External
Financial Reporting Department’s mission is to achieve timely, accurate, and
efficient preparation of all external financial statements and related filings.
The Financial Reporting Staff Accountant
will be a member of the External Financial Reporting Team and will be responsible
for the preparation of financial statements for subsidiary of Anthem, Inc. This
position includes opportunities for technical accounting and reporting research
and continuous improvement project work.Essential duties of thisposition will include but not be limited to the following:
Preparing financial statements using the generalledger system and specific financial statement preparation software.
Evaluating anticipated transactions and determiningtheir impact on financial statements, including the impact on risk basedcapital.
Preparing journal entries using the PeopleSoft generalledger.
Providing information for external audit requests andaddressing related questions.
Assisting with responses to government and/orregulatory agencies requests and questions.
The idealcandidate will have the following attributes:
BS/BA in Accounting or Finance
Excellent analytical, organizational,and problem solving skills
Excellent leadership and interpersonalcommunication skills
Strong working knowledge of Excel, Access,and other core software applications
