Volt is seeking a Mid-Level Systems Safety Engineer to support Aerospace client in Long Beach, CA.Security Clearance and Export Control Requirements: This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance, for which the US Government requires US Citizenship.

Position Responsibilities:o Coordinate with Cognizant Engineering and technical activities in the area of System Safety on C-17 Airlift programso Ensure proper implementation of system safety requirements into the design, test, and operation of productso Responsible for System Safety deliverable documents (Safety Assessment Report, Critical Safety Items Report)o Support risk assessment analyses for field issues, software safety assessment, and/or fault tree analysiso Provide regular status reports to management, program management, and the Safety Review Boardo Serves as a company resource expert in the definition of system safety program fundamentals including risk identification, analysis and control of hardware and software hazardso Support design activities for software/system improvement/obsolescence projects(Required Skills/Experience):o Bachelor's Degree or higher from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistryo 3+ years of experience in an engineering disciplineo 1+ years of experience in Systems and Safety Engineering

(Preferred Qualifications):o 1+ years of experience assisting in any of the following engineering areas: analyses for affordability, safety, reliability, maintainability, testability, human systems integration, survivability, vulnerability, susceptibility, system security, regulatory, certification or product assurance or any other specialties engineering disciplineo 1+ years of experience applying systems engineering principles during the development of complex hardware/software solutions on an aerospace platformo 1+ years of experience implementing Department of Defense system safety standards MIL STD 882Eo Working knowledge and experience developing/applying aviation related system safety analysis methods such as System Safety Risk Assessments, Fault-tree Analysis (FTA), Functional Hazard Assessment (FHA) and Safety Assessment Report (SAR)o 1+ years of experience with various reliability modelling techniques including Markov, Monte Carlo, and Weibull methods
