Our collaborative genealogy platform has allowed our users to build the world's largest family tree, which includes more than 125 million interconnected individuals. We are looking for energetic and talented professionals to join our small team, doing big things, as we grow and develop new, innovative products just blocks from downtown Burbank. Our small team preserves its startup roots while taking a systematic approach to development and deployment of new features.

We are hiring an experienced back-end developer to work closely with both our engineering and user experience teams to extend and enhance existing code, as well as design and develop new features for Geni.com. Projects may vary from creating brand new interfaces for our core technologies, creating back-end services to add value for our users from our large data set, and optimizing targeted interactions like SEO-driven signup flows.

What you bring

B.Sc. in computer science or software engineering

4+ years of experience in server-side development

2+ years of developing in Ruby on Rails in a production environment

Extensive knowledge of object-oriented architectural and design patterns

Experience working with complex database schemas

Motivation, ambition, and strong communication and collaboration skills

What else

Experience with Continuous integration and deployment environment.

Experience with end-to-end data and large-scale performance challenges

Good understanding of Agile concepts

An appreciation for automated testing and code maintainability
