WHY WE NEED YOU The Control Systems team is responsible for delivering the vehicle control, from motion control and energy management (electrical, mechanical, thermal). We’re a multidisciplinary, cross-functional team that manage the design from system architecture and controller’s hardware to the embedded software deployed to the vehicle. Virgin Hyperloop needs an Embedded Engineering Technician to contribute to the overall embedded control solution by specifying, designing, and maintaining the embedded controller and other embedded hardware. The candidate will support the full Hyperloop product life cycle, developing the motion control strategy (propulsion, braking, levitation, and guidance characteristics) for a unique vehicle concept.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Hands on work in an embedded lab space geared towards preparing and testing various embedded controllers and PCBAs.
  • Rework PCBAs in a reliable fashion, with many components 0402 size.
  • Build test harnesses, with both crimp and solder experience
  • Aid and lead in lab test setups
  • Follow ATPs and bring up procedures of various embedded boards alongside or as proposed by engineer.
  • Use embedded lab equipment and ensure lab area is well organized and managed.
  • Excellent soldering skills, both at the wire level and individual component and trace level
  • Work on multiple projects in parallel

WHAT YOU'VE DONE
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience as an embedded technician or equivalent
  • Familiar with embedded lab equipment power supply, DMMs
  • Understand basic PCBA and other electrical schematics
  • Familiar with sensors and data acquisition system
  • Excellent communication skills, written skills, organizational skills
  • Practical embedded technician or equivalent experience in electrical systems and embedded control systems.
  • Able to develop and troubleshoot design solutions to complex problems and thrive in a team environment.
  • Comfortable by working in a team with a wide variety of backgrounds and skillsets.

NICE TO HAVE
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience as an embedded technician or equivalent
  • Understand complex PCBA and other electrical schematics,
  • Experience with testing/troubleshooting embedded PCBAs
  • Familiar with embedded lab equipment including Oscilloscopes, function generator, etc.
