Senior Draft Technician to work with one of our direct clients in Los Angeles, CA.

Title: Senior Draft Technician

Duration: 06 Months

Location: Los Angeles, CA (Onsite)

Required Skills:
  • The Senior Drafting Tech will use the ArcGIS Desktop and Workflow Manager to enter new cases, ordinances, resolutions and other layers to edit and enter into the GIS Database, under the supervision of a GIS Supervisor.
  • The Senior Drafting Tech must be detailed-oriented and be able to follow instructions.
  • The Senior Drafting Tech will perform the Quality Control task, which involves reviewing edits and interacting with other Editors.
  • The Senior Drafting Tech will need to quickly learn the various databases and their unique challenges.
  • A bachelor's degree in GIS or a related major is required and a certificate in GIS is a plus.
  • Senior Drafting Tech must have ArcGIS experience in both ArcGIS Desktop and ArcGIS Pro.
  • Experience with legal descriptions in addition to the ability to interpret technical plot maps is a plus

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Utilize ArcGIS desktop software and the Editor in a Versioned environment;
  • Edit GIS database: Zone, land use, Cases, Ordinances, Resolutions, ZBA, Building Line Affidavits, ADMs and other layers;
  • Edit Polygon, Line, Point, Annotation;
  • Process Counter intake cases;
  • Use the Workflow Manager software and assist with testing for upgrades;
  • Perform Quality Control and review Edits made by junior drafting techs;
  • Search planning ordinances and resolutions from the website, upload the ordinances to Planning Document Information System (PDIS) (Case Summary and Documents), and make changes to the Data Base based on these documents;
  • Perform research on database requests, which involves searching old ordinances and documentation to justify zone and land use challenges (ad hoc);
  • Prepare Community Plan ordinances for others to edit;
  • Understand map projections, map bearings and how to interpret them in legal descriptions;
  • Understand basic cartographic layouts;
  • Run pre-written python scripts and use the results; and
  • Have zoning and land use experience to apply to database edits.
