Job Description

Title: Licensed Vocational Nurse

FLSA Status: Exempt, Regular, Full-time

Department: Medical Focus Day Program

Company: Assistance In Home Care for El Sol Home Care, Inc.

Reports To: Program Director

General Summary:

Provide training and support to Program Instructors to care for individuals with specific medical conditions. Must have basic understanding of developmental disabilities and intellectual disabilities. Review and implement Restricted Health Care Plans and Health Maintenance Plans. Support and train staff to care for consumers that are exhibiting behavioral issues, receive supervision for nursing care from a Registered Nurse. Establish and maintain a commitment to providing the highest level of quality customer service to all individuals. Services will be provided at the individuals place of residence (within the catchment area of the Eastern Los Angeles Regional Center “ primarily in the cities of Whittier, Pico Rivera, Montebello, East Los Angeles and may include cities of Monterey Park, Rosemead, San Gabriel and Temple City).

Principal Responsibilities:

Assist in developing and maintaining program policies and procedures.

Ensure non-discrimination in the delivery of program services and assistance.

Ensure health and safety to all program participants by enforcing program design guidelines.

Evaluate consumer needs and schedule staff to receive related training.

Maintain ongoing health progress notes for each client.

Review and Implement Restricted Health Care Plans / Health Maintenance Plans.

Provide both general and client specific training to all staff as requested by Program Administrator.

Provide scheduled In-Services.

Review Medication Regiment. Review medication compliance weekly.

Assist the Program Director and work directly with Registered Nurse.

Act as a member of Interdisciplinary Team and give accurate input on clients performance and progress.

Perform basic incidental treatment (e.g. Creams and lotions) as medically prescribed.

Recommend any changes or additions in consumers schedule as needed.

Provides support with medical plans.

Trains and supervises Program Instructors with Restricted Health Care Plans.

Perform other duties as assigned by Program Director or Registered Nurse.

Qualifications:

Licensed as a Licensed Vocational Nurse

Minimum of one year recent full time experience for combination of relevant training and experience.

Willing to complete a minimum of 15 hours of continuing education in the areas related to the administration and management of programs providing services to persons with developmental disabilities (training provided).

Basic understanding of developmental disabilities and intellectual disabilities.

Requirements:

Valid California Driver's License and proof of automobile insurance.

Documentation of educational background, training, certificates and/or experience.

Must pass and maintain a fingerprint background clearance for criminal records (livescan provided).

A medical screening/physical and a TB test clearance.

Have the physical qualifications to perform the duties assigned.

Current First Aid and CPR

Training in DSP-I & DSP II and Certified in Non-Violent Crisis Prevention Intervention (N-CPI) is a plus.

Schedule: Monday through Friday from 7:00am to 3:00pm and as needed/scheduled.
