Job Description
Reviews customer CNC machine parts and sheet metal fabrication request for quotations:
Determines the following for the quoting process:
1. Complete labor; set up, and run times, and fabrication costs.
2. Complete CNC programming requirements.
3. Set up sheets and tool lists.
4. Fixture design and programming.
5. Tooling requirements and costs.
6. Raw material sizing.
7. Set up times.
8. Number of operations.
9. Benching requirements.
10. Enters the fabrication data the ERP system for the Sales department to complete the quotations with materials, processing, inspection, and admin costs.
General management of shop operations:
1. Proficient with 3 axis Haas and Fadal Machines; Haas 5 axis preferred.
2. Working closely with the Manufacturing and Quality manger.
3. Position has delegation authority. Hiring selection and termination of personnel input.
4. Manages shop personnel with the assistance of the Shop Lead.
5. Processes CNC machine part and sheet metal fabrication jobs including assembly, less processing and Q.A. inspection.
6. Schedules and stages open orders based on schedule provided by the Manufacturing Manager.
7. Kits open orders with raw materials, fixture materials, and orders tooling. (deligated).
8. Creates CNC programs, set up sheets, fixture programs, and associated 3D files required for fabrication.
9. Creates and maintains part programs for all types of numerical control applications taking into considerations such as factors as machining parameters, cutter selections and control limitations, while ensuring the design intent and component quality is achieved.
10. Design custom tooling, tools, setups for the production of complex machined parts.
11. Work in a manner consistent with current digital product definition (DPD) procedure.
12. Creates screen shots and any documented information essential for Manufacturing to operate a computer numerical control (CNC) machine.
13. Generate 2D drawing and/or sketches and route to Quality for inspection.
14. Assists shop personnel with set up and proving programs.
15. Responsible for increasing efficiency and reducing costs. Adjusting speeds and feeds to better schedule and reduce costs, tooling inventory and repair, and general shop machine preventative maintenance and repair.
16. Maintain statutory and regulatory compliance, Federal, State, Local Health and safety regulations quality and safety standards, keeping records and SDS data.
17. Scheduling metal chip recycling and used chemical disposal with the Manufacturing Manager. (deligated)
18. Report progress and status of programming jobs to the project manager, planning, and upper management.
19. Shop personnel performance appraisals.
20. Must keep work space organized at all times / Housekeeping.
21. Additional duties as required.
