Database Administrator

The Database Administrator will receive a generous total compensation package. Bonuses are awarded in recognition of individual and firm performance. As a Database Administrator, you will be responsible for administering, and maintaining database platforms for firm wide use. You will establish and maintain high standards of integrity and reliability in database management systems and enforce standards and controls. Working closely with the Manager of Database Administration, Manager of Data Science, Developers, Application Owners and various other support and functional teams you will ensure that information systems and applications are implemented and integrated at their expected levels while accomplishing these and other critical functions: Maintaining database and application systems after implementation including user support and software upgrades. Troubleshooting and resolving problems and issues with development, and support projects and software customizations and integrations.Managing the Systems Development Life Cycle including requirements analysis and definition, systems and architecture design, Systems Integration, and Process Documentation.Participating in consultations with Application Developers, and Application Owners regarding system requirements and functionality. Designing and developing recommended solutions to meet these needs.Assisting with the evaluation and recommendation of new database technologies, and upgrades.Assisting with the testing, documentation and maintenance of data applications, systems and reporting.Scheduling and promoting development and support projects and fixes to various production environments.Staying abreast of new technologies and participating in training to develop new skill sets as new technology is introduced into the firm.Developing productive and collaborative relationships with stakeholders and end users in both the technology and finance departments.Coordinating with other areas / departments of the firm where overlap exists to develop efficient procedures / communications to stream-line processes and satisfy various department and firm needs. As a Database Administrator, you will be expected to apply your organizational and communication skills while displaying a positive, high-energy attitude. The successful Database Administrator must have a strong command of SQL and SQL server tools, knowledge of database structure query languages, such as T-SQL, and advanced knowledge of database security, backup and recovery, and performance monitoring standards. The ideal candidate will have an understanding of relational and dimensional data modeling, familiarity with SQL Server Integration Services, and other ETL technologies, experience implementing, and administering High Availability database solutions, and PowerShell and Unix shell scripting skills. The Administrator must have expert knowledge of server hardware/software configuration, experience with server installation and maintenance, and expert knowledge and proficiency in a wide variety of software programs, including Windows O/S and Microsoft Office. Knowledge of information systems analysis and design methods, as well as in depth knowledge of data warehousing concepts and processes and knowledge of Business Objects administration and support are desired. The successful candidate will have strong analytical skills needed for all primary duties of position, including comprehending and communicating data and the ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with the appropriate discretion. The ability to undertake large, long-term projects, develop alternative methods to complete them, and implement solutions and the ability to use independent judgment and discretion when making majority of decisions are required. A Bachelor s degree in Computer Science or Information Systems is preferred. A minimum of five (5) years of experience in database administration, information technology, or database system architecture is required. Experience with database technologies (MS SQL, MariaDB, MySQL, PostgreSQL), SQL Server Integration Services, and package design is desired. Experience with supporting financial information systems and administration of Elite 3E (e.g. 3E, Design Gallery, BizTalk) is preferred.
