Position: Remote Sr. Front-End Web Developer

Per the Manager: This is an 12 month assignment that will be remote- Manager is okay with wherever resource resides BUT MUST WORK PST HOURS. This is a front end web developer role. On a daily this role will help to come up with plans for building out websites, and internal facing web pages. In additon, will work with teams such as Marketing on Design. Project include consolidating and having a better approach to managing web sites as well as building up content management(What CMS does this person like, why like it and help to build up the platform) It would be great if this person was not afraid of playing on the backend but this is truly a front end developer role.

Top Skills/Must haves for every candidate: 1. React JS experience-KEY TO THIS IS THEY MUST LOVE THIS- EVERYTHING IS DONE IN REACT JS- NO OTHER WAY- AND IT WON'T CHANGE-all our frameworks commonly supported on this -We have a custom Disney design framework and it is on React. 2. Amazon Web Services- AWS-everything we develop is in AWS cloud-we launch websites on AWS- must be comfortable and know how to work within it. 3. Content Management(Wordpress is used, however looking for experience in Headless CMS- with Headless, can manage all in the background and we can build on top of it- looking for someone who can support the ins and outs of it vs. just pure front end- A person who is familiar with it and can talk to who, what and why of it) 4. Agile environment- having worked in Agile 5. Experience working with UX/user interfacing teams- this is a very desired nice to have skill since this person will be working in this space 6. Highly desirable to have: Design eye/Design sense- the ability to view and talk in design to the business- Will be working with teams such as marketing for website design- having the design sense to discuss what they want, why they want it and how we can incorporate or make slight adjustments are key 7. Excellent communication skills-as this is remote, must not be afraid to ask questions for clarity, discuss with teams designs, follow up with teams- this is not a "sit in the corner" type role does not need to come from entertainment industry but it is a nice to have

Description/Comment:

We are looking for a motivated front end focused Senior Software Engineer who thinks of the user first and has that perfect blend of technology, user experience, and business insight. This role will focus on development of web properties in support of initiatives. It will require knowledge of front end development best practices as well as strong opinions on CMS development. The role will be highly involved in the development of websites Works across the site portfolio (internal and external facing sites). Works with cross functional team including UX, product, and business in support of website build out

Basic Qualifications

5+ years of relevant industry experience Experience working with a variety of Content Management Systems (CMS) and an understanding of what types of CMS' make sense given the constraints of the work. Knowledge/experience with AWS products and services. Implement web interfaces and applications using JavaScript and CSS. Modern Git based Source Code Control Repositories experience. Experience working with relational databases. Experience working with engineering teams using Agile / Scrum software development & other common engineering best practices. Self driven, motivated, and ability to drive objectives forward and see projects and initiatives through to completion. Ability to work well under pressure and time constraints to meet deadlines. Able to provide mentorship/direction to junior engineers. Easily transition between technical and non-technical audience. Passion for and understanding of The Walt Disney Company stories, characters and products.

Preferred Qualifications

Competent in design/implementation for reliability, availability, scalability and performance. Experience working with infrastructure tools. Design-oriented and UX experience a plus: understanding of typography, layout, color theory, usability, and other design principles Comfortable evaluating and taking calculated risks adopting new technologies.
