As a Display Backplane Process Engineer, you will be a member of our Display Hardware organization, taking a lead in display backplane process development to set the technical goals, be the point of contact and interface to the product development team, lead the development of leading-edge technologies and designs, and work with the current and evolving ecosystem to provide differentiating capabilities to our HW platforms. You will be part of a tight-knit group of highly talented engineers at the forefront of innovation for our Portal and VR products.Required Skills: Lead new hybrid backplane process development for displays.

Define hybrid TFT (thin film transistor) backplane specifications for new display modules.

Define and specify display backplane process validation plans and methodologies.

Identify risks in backplane process and develop mitigation strategies.

Track and resolve issues through various phases of production, and perform failure-mode and root-cause analysis.

Work closely with display vendors to ensure backplane quality.

Work closely with internal and external cross-functional teams to ensure glass design meets the specs at the component, board, and system level.

Leverage ODM/CM's resources to maximize the focus of our internal resources on adding value and differentiation to our product.

Willingness and ability to travel 30% time internationally.

Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree in Physics, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field or equivalent experience.

5+ years of experience in process development for glass displays, such as photolithography, dry/wet etch or chemical/physical deposition.

Experience in transistor process integration, such as a-Si TFT, LTPS (low temperature polysilicon), and Oxide TFT.

Experience in hybrid backplane process integration, such as LTPO (low temperature polysilicon and oxide).

Experience performing and designing DOE, data analysis, SPC control, yield improvement, root cause investigation, FACA, quality control.

Experience with optical and electrical lab equipment for display process and display performance verification.

Experience in working with display vendors, ODMs and CMs, as well as JDM development.

Track-record of delivering high volume, fast paced consumer products.

Project management, communication skills and people skills.

Preferred Qualifications: PhD degree in Physics, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field.

In-depth knowledge of AMLCD TFT, LC cell design or AMOLED and production process.

Experience with flexible substrate display technologies.

Experience in working directly with mainstream AMLCD or AMOLED vendors.

Expertise in other display processes, such as CF process, cell process, OLED process, DDIC/FPC bonding process.

Experience with TCAD process simulation models with tools such as Supreme or Athena.
