- Directly manage the Cloud Application Services team and their efforts to provide personal finance solutions on a microservices platform
- Guide, coach, and mentor software development engineers
- Grow the team to meet business needs with the ability to attract and retain great talent
- Ensure the team adheres to Cloud Services best practices (e.g., API reviews, unit testing, etc.) and includes technical design considerations for performance, scalability, and security
- Own the team’s technical roadmap, engaging architects and steering technical problem-solving as necessary
- Partner closely with a cross-functional team of key stakeholders throughout the development lifecycle
- Collaborate with business partners and product managers to align roadmaps, track resources, and address trade-offs
- Communicate with stakeholders via established operating mechanisms, while also proactively managing gaps and escalations
- Work hand-in-hand with internal client teams for ease of integration
- Partner with QE and Ops teams for continuous delivery
- Contribute to strategic technical plans for their Cloud Services platform
- Ensure development cycles accommodate necessary technical stack upgrades
- Create a culture that motivates the team to excel by promoting ownership, empowerment, collaboration, innovation, and transparency
- Work closely with the company’s Cloud Services managers in both Menlo Park and Bangalore to maintain a cohesive team culture
- 10+ years of experience in the software industry, with 2+ years in engineering management
- Strong people-management skills with a track record of leading high-performing engineering teams
- Solid technical background in working with cloud-based microservices (AWS preferred)
- Excellent knowledge of Java, REST APIs, and relational databases
- Comfortable dealing with ambiguity and driving towards clarity by partnering with stakeholders
- Ability to handle dynamic situations, evaluate trade-offs, and balance short- vs long-term when making decisions
- Proven experience in hiring talent to meet the team’s needs, as well as coaching engineers in a range of career phases
- Excellent project management skills with the ability to pragmatically solve problems
- Strong communication skills to work effectively at different levels of the organization
- Experience leading a team with an Agile development process (Scrum or Kanban)
- BS/MS in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent
