Together, we can help people build stronger communities - we're just getting started.Summary: Facebook is looking for an analytical thinker with experience in policy, law, business operations, or government to join our Content Policy team. The Content Policy team’s mission is to create and communicate rules for how our products may be used by people on Facebook and its family of applications.This member of the Content policy team will focus on the Oversight Board, which will review some of the most challenging content decisions at Facebook. Policy responsibilities related to the board will include reviewing content policies prior to the board becoming operational, developing a policy rationale for cases sent to the board, supporting responses to policy inquiries from the board, and managing the policy team’s actions following content-based policy recommendations from the board.The candidate will also play a key role in developing, applying, and communicating our Community Standards both internally and externally. They will manage high-profile content escalations and will be expected to make difficult decisions about whether to allow or remove content.Successful candidates will be able to critically analyze and communicate the costs and benefits of refinements to policies and understand the values and rationale that underpin Facebook’s Community Standards. Candidates should be passionate about the services we provide and the people we serve.This is a full-time position located in Menlo Park, California or Washington, D.C.Required Skills:

Explain the rationale and values underlying Facebook’s content policies.

Collaborate with Public Policy, the Oversight Board Liaison, the Operations Board Liaison, Product, and Communications teams to drive policy responses following recommendations by the Oversight Board.

Act as a global escalation point of contact and respond to challenging policy inquiries.

Help articulate content policy philosophy, launches, and changes to relevant parties, including the Oversight Board, Facebook management, operations, and other internal and external stakeholders.

Build relationships with and understand the perspectives of partners on internal teams, such as Public Policy, the Oversight Board Liaison, the Operations Board Liaison, Communications, Operations, Product, and Legal.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree

6+ years of work experience in policy, policy enforcement, or public policy, with an emphasis on technology

Demonstrated analytical thinking and problem-solving experience

Experience working with teams across an organization, particularly in the areas of consensus-building and persuasion

Preferred Qualifications:

JD, MBA, MPP, or other relevant advanced degree

Experience working at a technology company

Experience with international Internet/social media content issues

Knowledge of Facebook products and principles
