SUMMARY
Reporting to the Farming Manager, the Dairy Farm & Facilities Technician is responsible for monitoring and maintaining all equipment, facilities and irrigation systems.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Ensures that procedures are adhered to for plant cleaning
Ensures machines and equipment are functioning properly
Identifies and corrects unsafe and unacceptable practices
Troubleshoots and maintains irrigation systems
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Other duties and/or special projects as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of:
Dairy practices and procedures
Safe animal handling practices
Federal and state regulations regarding safe handling and food techniques
Safety policies and procedures
Proper care and maintenance of tools and equipment
Irrigation systems and troubleshooting methods
Ability to:
Operate farm equipment – tractors, swathers, loaders, gutsters, dump trucks
Maintain equipment and facilities – livestock bedding, water troughs, silage pit, lanes, barns, loafing areas
Operate GPS systems in equipment
Identify machinery, facilities and livestock issues and resolve in a timely manner
Communicate effectively with all levels of staff throughout the organization
Build and maintain positive working relationships with all co-workers and staff
Ability to work with minimal supervision
Work varied, rotating shifts which may include nights and weekends
Demonstrate consistency, dependability and punctuality in all aspects of the position
