JOB SUMMARY

This includes but not limited to operating Laser Sorting machines, sorting lines and containers. Follow standard work methods and practice safe work habits to ensure production is as efficient and safe as possible. Laser Supervisor, is responsible for programming laser sorting setting to achieve target quality product.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Placing and removing bins in the correct place.

Helping maintain a clean and safe area (no bins out of place).

Marking down bins that are ready to use.

Alerting Laser Technician of any problems.

Load and unload product to be cleaned

Select appropriate laser programming based on the quality of product

Observe and adjust the program, based on the results of the out-coming product

Maintain a safe, clean work space around the laser sorting machines (follow cleaning schedule)

Report to maintenance any concerns or repairs that need to be made.

Operator must have adequate training for the laser programming

Inspection of the work area an product will vary daily

Evaluations will be based on efficiency of the programming and cleanliness of the product

Notification to the Laser Technician of any requirements and errors on the programs

Effective communication among workers, supervisors, and managers is required

Must have the ability to drive a forklift (obtain certification)

Must have the ability to take direction

Must be able to understand basic English/ Spanish

Must have at least a minimal ability to trouble shoot

Perform typical cracker operations.

Perform preventive maintenance on machines as required per GDN procedures.

Perform daily inspections.

Detect and report defective materials or questionable conditions to the Laser Technician.

Perform other related operations as required or directed. May work at different workstations, as production need is required.

Must have knowledge working with tools and have a good mechanical aptitude.

Must be familiar with basic machine functions in order to perform the tasks stated above.

Must be able to accept and receive frequent supervision and assistance with regard to machine-set up.

Must be able to work overtime and any shift as necessary.

Must be able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, safety hazards, and work schedules. Work consists of a wide range of tasks requiring a high level of problem solving skills that result in solutions from several alternatives.

Must have excellent communication skills and be able to work under limited or no supervision.

Regular attendance required.

Must be able to work overtime and any shift as necessary.

Support, participate and enforce GDN safety policies and procedures.

Oversee and direct daily activities of assigned shift.

Involve daily communication with Production Manager, Leads, and all employees necessary in the operations process.

Plan, coordinate and advise department employees of work to be completed daily.

Oversee daily set up of machinery and equipment prior to production for efficient and effective operation.

Monitor production process to ensure smooth flow. Receive and resolve laser operation problems for shift.

Monitor performance of department employees to ensure they follow established standards and procedures such as safety, housekeeping, etc.

Give verbal and written reports daily to Production Manager and any other necessary personnel to submit appropriate documentation and communication.

Visually inspect products and/or operations to ensure quality of products inbound and outbound.

Hold communication meetings when necessary with shift personnel.

Develop shift leads for successor training.

Carry out corporate GMP's, personnel and safety policies while maintaining discipline within the plant.

Perform other various job functions as may be assigned.

Accomplishes manufacturing staff results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.

Maintains staff by orienting, and training employees; developing personal growth opportunities.

Maintains work flow by monitoring steps of the process; setting processing variables; observing control points and equipment; monitoring personnel and resources; studying methods; implementing cost reductions; developing reporting procedures and systems; facilitating corrections to malfunctions within process control points; initiating and fostering a spirit of cooperation within and between departments.

Completes production plan by scheduling and assigning personnel; accomplishing work results; establishing priorities; monitoring progress; revising schedules; resolving problems; reporting results of the processing flow on shift production summaries.

Maintains quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards.

Ensures operation of equipment by calling for repairs; evaluating new equipment and techniques.

Provides manufacturing information by compiling, initiating, sorting, and analyzing production performance records and data; answering questions and responding to requests.

Creates and revises systems and procedures by analyzing operating practices, record-keeping systems, forms of control, and personnel requirements; implementing change.

Maintains safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of all control points, equipment, and resources; maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures.

Resolves personnel problems by analyzing data; investigating issues; identifying solutions; recommending action.

Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Attend daily production meetings.

Regular attendance required.

This person will also set up, run, and clean equipment.

Pack all products as needed.

Supply lines with boxes, product and pallets.

Instruct forklift drivers to remove product from cracker/warehouse

Set up and run all equipment, in time for beginning and end of production.

Clean machines at end of shift to prepare for next shift.

Perform any other work as assigned by supervisor.

Comply with all safety, food safety, GMP and SQF Requirements.

Must perform all positions of rotation, if applicable.

Follows and ensures adherence to established Grower Direct Nut Co., local, state, and federal regulations and requirements as well as food safety, sanitation, food production and nutritional guidelines.

Established and ensures adherence to procedures and standards, which are in agreement with these regulations, requirements and guidelines.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities are not limited to the above mentioned and may include assisting other departments within reasonable and related tasks.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

ï Physical demands

o Will frequently stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle and feel, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear, taste and smell.

o Will seldom sit and occasionally climb or balance and stoop, kneel crouch or crawl.

o Must use both hands for rapid mental muscular coordination, simultaneously.

o Must be able to reach high and low levels, frequently.

o Must be able to push/pull/lift with arms below waist/at shoulder/above shoulder level up to 50 pounds frequently.

o Must lift with arms up to floor to waist, waist to shoulder 50 pounds.

o Must be able to constantly stand/stoop/walk/bend, up to 12 hrs.

o Ability to strenuous flex/grip with wrist/hands frequently (15 flexion/minute).

ï Work environment

o Will occasionally work near moving mechanical parts.

o Will Work around wet or humid conditions, in high, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions, extreme cold (non-weather), extreme heat (non-weather), risk of electrical shock, risk of vibration.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS

1. Ability to work as part of a team

2. Ability to perform basic math functions

3. Must be able to work overtime and/or weekends as needed

4. At least 1 year of forklift driving experience

5. Positive attitude, high energy, flexibility and personal initiative
