Job Summary: ASRC Federal Data Solutions (AFDS) provides comprehensive IT services to NASA Ames Research Center located in Mountain View, CA. We are currently seeking a

Cloud Technical Operations Manager to be a part of our operations on the Ames Consolidated Information Technology Services (ACITS) contract and provide support to the Enterprise Managed Cloud Computing (EMCC) group.

This role needs a Cloud Technical Operations professional with experience in cloud computing and project management to help our team implement modern, enterprise solutions at NASA. We are interested in people with strong cloud management, architecture, engineering, and operations backgrounds. You should be accustomed to working in a modern enterprise environment. We need someone who actively seek out problems to solve, is constantly trying to improve processes and infrastructure, and has passion. We want a quick-thinking individual who can self-manage and efficiently coordinate with a diverse, medium-sized team of highly skilled technical individuals.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Help develop leading-edge cloud solutions for NASA
  • Lead and assign tasks to a medium sized team of engineers
  • Prioritize tasks, communicate blockers, and set expectations for both team members and management
  • Support and operations capacity planning
  • Utilize collaborative tools to track, coordinate, communicate, and assign all teamwork
  • Be a mentor and example for team members on best practices
  • Manage project and program portfolios
  • Track requirements, goals, and milestones for all operation's team cloud projects
  • Track team performance metrics, task assignments, resource allocations, and time logging / story points
  • Develop tools and processes to improve or automate repetitive tasks
  • Research, suggest, and help implement industry best practices and tool sets
  • Create process flowcharts and architecture diagrams
  • Author processes, documentation, and whitepapers for use by team members and customers
  • Communicate complex topics to management and government personnel in a way they can understand
  • Perform risk and impact analyses on internal change requests
  • Other responsibilities as assigned

Educational/Training Requirements:
  • BS in Computer Science or related field or equivalent years of experience.
  • Any Security certification is a plus.
  • Lean IT or ITIL training or certification is a plus.

Skill Requirements/Qualifications
  • 4+ years working with Information Technology and/or equivalent educational experience
  • 2+ years of direct experience working with

    any of the following:
    • Amazon Web Services (AWS)
    • Microsoft Azure
    • Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
    • or similar in a cloud service provider in a DevOps capacity
  • Program and project management background
  • Experience in writing and improving documentation, processes, workflows, and whitepapers
  • Ability to explain complex topics to management and other team members
  • Highly organized individual that works well with others
  • DevOps Mentality / Culture experience
  • Have supported at least one major enterprise level cloud project, application, or platform that supports a large user, compute, or traffic base
  • A constant desire to learn new things, better themselves, and inspire those around them
  • Ability to pass a federal background check for public trust
  • Must be a US Citizen with ability to obtain a SECRET government clearance or Public Trust.

Additional experience - if available:

  • PMP, Agile, ITIL, or other similar certification
  • Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) design experience
  • General experience with DevSecOps (or similar methodologies) and managing projects effectively
  • Security framework experience (PCI, NIST 800-53, SOX, CIS, etc.)
  • Diagraming experience (Visio, Lucid Charts, OmniGraffle, etc.)
  • Support ticketing platform experience (JIRA, ServiceNow, Zendesk, etc.)
  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 15% of the time to other US based NASA centers.

Work Environment:
  • Office environment.

Physical Demands: Mobility to work in a typical office setting, use standard office equipment including a computer and keyboard; vision to read printed materials, correspondence, and a computer screen; Position may involve frequent standing, walking, pushing, pulling, bending, reaching, and lifting (may range from 10-50lbs on a regular basis)
