BBSI is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager for one of the fastest growing machine shop companies in the area. Our client is seeking a hands-on Engineering Manager to assist in implementing lean manufacturing to their R&D, Engineering, Documentation and manufacturing efforts.

Job Summary This position will direct the continued development of engineering personnel and assist in the enhancement of product line both for performance and ease of manufacture as the company continues to compete as a world class leader in the packaging field.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Purpose
    • To create the structure and manage an engineering team that is able to create and document a design which satisfies customer needs; then engineering and producing that design profitably and on schedule.
  • Engineering
  • Responsible for the design, development, documentation and testing of existing manufactured machines and equipment
  • Develop conceptual and detailed designs by analyzing existing and new equipment URS specifications, performance requirements and reviewing existing manufacturing capability
  • Recommend process or design improvements where they would reduce cost or improve overall quality
  • Review specifications, interpret CAD drawings, and determine fabrication requirements for each component and assembly
  • Schedule, coordinate and direct Engineering projects, workflow and job orders
  • Deliver On-Time performance through continuous process improvements
  • Create detailed plans to accomplish goals and direct the integration of technical activities
  • Assist in the recruitment of employees when required. Assign, direct and evaluate their work as necessary. Oversee the development and maintenance of engineering staff competence.
  • Perform administrative functions such as reviewing and writing reports, approving expenditures, enforcing policies and making decisions about the purchase of materials or services
  • Documentation
  • Train, enforce and monitor the plan for the document control system for drawings, designs and manuals. Ensure the necessary manuals and documentation for manufacturing are accurate and complete. Control and protect all company proprietary information. i.e.: PLC/PC programs, designs, drawings, etc.
  • Review documentation, manuals, revisions and customer support information for completeness and accuracy using the SolidWorks suite of products
  • Assist with the development of the process for capturing Bill of Material costs for all manufactured products. Ensure R&D labor, engineering labor, material and outsourcing costs are recorded for BOM. Work with accounting department to report all BOM costs for project cost analysis along with capturing R&D labor time for recouping tax credits

Education/Training
  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering required
  • 5 years engineering experience minimum
  • 3 years project management/supervisory experience minimum in an engineering environment
  • Ability to manage up to 10 Project Engineers
  • Familiar with and using GD&T
  • Proficiency in Solid Works /Autodesk Inventor knowledge
  • Electrical and/or programming experience a plus
  • Knowledge of ISO 9000 a plus
  • PC literate - Proficiency in MS Office Suite required
  • Knowledge of production planning, scheduling and machine shop operations
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills, bilingual a plus
