POSITION SUMMARY:

Bring your civil engineering expertise and leadership to a highly innovative small business providing high-end solutions, where you can join a dedicated team of engineers and technicians helping make a difference to the future of space exploration for Jet Propulsion Laboratory. support critical Facilities and Antenna Subsystems serving NASA’s Deep Space Communications Complexes (DSCCs) in Australia, Spain and California. The Facilities Engineer will also support other Facilities assemblies that encompass a wide range of disciplines spanning Mechanical, Fire, Electrical and Security systems. These systems provide infrastructure support to acquire critical mission data to our Signal Processing Centers (SPCs) by utilizing the Multi-frequency Antennas at each complex. The Facilities Engineer will be responsible for maintaining and updating drawings and documents relating to each of the disciplines mentioned above amongst other duties. The candidate will work closely with the respective discipline’s development engineers and Site Engineers to identify solutions.

MAJOR JOB ACTIVITIES:
  • Plans, designs and directs civil engineering projects such as roads, railroads, airports, buildings, bridges, harbors, tunnels, dams, pipelines and power plants.
  • Leads, assigns and directs the day-to-day activities of less experienced engineers and designers in the performance of their duties.
  • Analyzes maps, blueprints, drawings, tests, and aerial photographs on soil composition, terrain, hydrological characteristics, and other topographical and geologic data to plan and design project.
  • Calculates cost and determines feasibility of project based on analysis of collected data, applying engineering and advanced mathematic principles.
  • Inspects construction site to monitor progress and ensure conformance to engineering specifications.
  • Provides resources and schedules in response to specified completion dates and technical applications.
  • Prepares proposals and cost estimates.
  • Evaluates project schedules and completion.
  • Uses computer-assisted engineering and design software.
  • Establishes design criteria for structures, foundations, buildings and site preparation.
  • Analyzes and designs steel or concrete framed support structures and/or soil bearing or piled foundations for structures, buildings or equipment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

B.S degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent from an ABET accredited institution

Professional Engineer license in CA . (Individuals in process of gaining a Professional Engineer license may also be considered)

Experience:
  • Minimum eight years of related experience.
  • You are able to obtain a trusted background check and pass a National Criminal Information Check (NCIC). In order to obtain a clearance, you need to be a US Citizen and show proof of citizenship
  • You can collaborate with highly motivated team to deliver quality and creative support
  • You are able to multi-task, adapt to change quickly, and are an analytical thinker with detail orientation
