Family medicine office seeking experienced and motivated medical biller.
Posts and manages patient payments
Posts all insurance EOBs
Has excellent knowledge of CPT, modifiers and ICD10 coding
Enters information necessary for insurance claims such as patient information, insurance ID, diagnosis and treatment codes and modifiers, and clinician information.
Sends patient statements and collection letters
Verifies insurance coverage
Supervises reception staff in collecting due amounts from patients
Follows up on accounts receivables and reconciles for payment- electronic and paper submission of claims
Assists in patient inquiries re account status and charges over the phone and in person, makes collections calls and sets up payment plans if needed, in English and Spanish.
Translates patient information into billing system
Ensures practice is reimbursed for all procedures
Writes letters of appeal to contest zero payment or underpayments, and follows up with insurance company on such claims.
Prepares patient statements for charges not covered by insurance and insures that statements are mailed on a regular basis.
Logs detailed notes on account status and set follow up.
In addition, assists practice lead physician in tasks such as setting meeting agendas and arranging lunches, coordinating infrastructure needs and purchasing, OSHA and HIPAA training and oversight with physician training.
minimum of one year prior experience in medical billing
Typing 35 to 40 wpm encouraged
Good organizational skills and attention to detail
Bilingual in English and Spanish
Knowledge of eMDs a plus
