Job Description

This position is a full time/part time Janitorial position, 20-35 hours per week, M-F (5:00 pm “ 1:00 am). Located in a government building in Fort Hunter Liggett

This job needs at least 2 years experience in cleaning, stripping/waxing, involving a variety of light to heavy cleaning tasks performed independently in specific areas or as a member of a cleaning crew. Under general supervision, the employee performs tasks during the assigned shift to ensure cleanliness of assigned areas. The position reports to the Foreman and/or the Project Manager. You must be able to pass a security background screening (No Felonies or Outstanding Warrants) and you must be authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities may include, but not limited to:

Sweep, Strip/wax, vacuum, scrub and mop floors in rooms, halls, stairways and public areas

Empty and clean waste receptacles and cigarette urns (if applicable); cleans and fills soap and paper dispensers in restrooms; clean windows, walls, doors and floors

Empty and change trash liners in containers

Clean furniture, desks, woodwork, fixtures, etc.

Set up rooms, moves and arrange furniture(s)

Clean and wash sinks, shower stalls, and other restrooms and shower rooms, plumbing fixtures

Works in an indoor environment, and is subject to frequent lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling

Lock and unlock doors to buildings; report malfunctions and unusual occurrences observed

Maintain, inspect equipment and tools used and report any malfunction

Drives truck in delivering or picking up supplies or equipment (if applicable)

Inform supervisor when supplies are needed

Must have the ability to work well with others and have a good/pleasant attitude

Performs other essential duties as required

Ability to effectively communicate and work with citizens who may have complaints on services provided

Attendance is an essential job function. It is an essential function of the job that you report to work on time and work your scheduled hours.

Record your attendance time by signing in upon arrival, note breaks and time out. Employee signatures are required.

Observes proper safety, and OSHA regulations

Mix chemicals according to manufactures instructions

Monitor own quality of work to ensure contract specifications are met.

Participate in company provided training programs to maintain and improve job skills

Maintain confidentiality of all customer and company information and documents

Mental and Physical Requirements

As part of the essential function of this position, employees are required to:

Understand, follow and implement written, verbal or demonstrated instructions in English

Request supplies verbally

Perform heavy work; exert in excess of 50 pounds of force occasionally, exert up to 20 pounds of force frequently

Be able to climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, finger, grasp, talk, hear, and perform repetitive motions on a regular basis

Keeps simple records of work performed and equipment utilized such as vehicle problems, daily reports, etc.(if applicable)

Makes minor adjustments to and assists in cleaning or servicing of equipment used.

Must be able to follow directions.

Requirements:

Must be able to provide proof you are authorized to work in US

Completion of formal or informal education which assures ability to read, write and speak English at the level sufficient for successful job performance and experience in building or related commercial cleaning work or equivalent combination of education and experience which indicates possession of knowledge and skills required.

Knowledge of modern, effective and efficient methods used in general janitorial work; cleaning materials, disinfectants, standard equipment and tools used in work; window cleaning techniques and methods; safety methods, floor cleaning and machine usage methods and procedures in janitorial operations.

Good interpersonal skills and the ability to thrive in a multi-cultural environment.

Ability to use cleaning materials, equipment and tools; performing tasks requiring relatively high degree to physical strength and endurance; applying methods and practices used in janitorial work and the care of tools, equipment and facilities; following oral and written instructions; establishing and maintaining cooperative, working independently with minimum supervision, and ability to safeguard keys and maintain security of facilities.

Must have a valid State driver's license with insurable record and reliable transportation

Ability to pass a physical and drug screen, if required

Must be able to obtain security background clearance
