Automation Engineer

Contractor will provide automation engineering support.

Scope:

SW automation using tools like Python & Expect.

Write new command line tools in C/C, Java, Python, and/or Go.

Parsing databases & create dashboards using SQL & Google Plx.

Write shell scripts & customize as needed to validate devices on the network.

Generate throughput, KPI, and other performance metrics for the devices being tested.

Examples of Tasks:

The individual will primarily work on automating test cases related to wireline & wireless networks involving devices like OLT, ONT, routers, switches, WiFi6 CPEs & Fixed Wireless Access equipment in a lab setting.

The individual will also develop automation around internal OSS/BSS systems.

The individual will validate that the test cases can run properly in the automation environment.

The individual will work with professional lab test equipment such as traffic generators Spirent Test Center or IXIA connecting to their programming interfaces.

The individual will develop an automation framework for lab test setups & OSS integration.

The individual will develop new command line tools in order to configure services, monitor status & collect statistics ideally written in Java, Python or Go.

Required:

Solid SW design & development practices, automation pipelines, build environments.

Be able to develop & document test plans/test cases.

SW automation background using tools like Python & Expect.

Ability to write scripts to automate manual tasks on the network is required.

Customize scripts, run experiments, generate reports & dashboards is required.

Generate throughout/KPI/other performance metrics & statistics for the devices being tested, compile test reports, to help prepare presentations.

The candidate must have good problem solving skills.

Pluses:

Knowledge of TCP-IP, & L2 networking/switches, Wireshark debugging tools is required. Familiarity with L3-networking/routers is a plus.

Good knowledge of WiFi6 and/or other wireless protocols.

Experience with wireline & wireless device testing.

Familiar with lab test equipment such as Spirent Test Center, IXIA, Octoscope or IxVeryWave is a plus.

Familiar with or prior experience with Google development and test tools such as Bazel, and/or Blaze, TestTracker, Sponge is a plus.
