We support and contribute to open-source frameworks and platforms, tools, and processes. We are spreading awareness of the Microsoft Cloud, Azure and Microsoft 365, developer tools and learning resources, such as Microsoft Learn and Docs.In this remote role and as a Principal Cloud Advocate Lead focused on education and student developers, you will help create the best cloud platform for academic faculty, student developers and the next generation of data scientists, software developers and engineers. Our primary mission is to welcome, guide and connect the next generation of student developers to thrive professionally with the Microsoft Cloud. We do that by executing on three strategic priorities: create content, improve product, and grow communities.This role is Remote Friendly.ResponsibilitiesManage a Global Team of ML/Data Cloud AdvocatesBuild the team strategy, identify the team priorities, align those priorities with the company’s objectives and vision, and effectively communicate business impact

Prioritize and delegate tasks and projects to the team of cloud advocates while aligning to organizational goals

Develop, inspire, mentor, and evaluate the cloud advocacy team’s progress and impact

Create positive team culture through modelling, coaching, and caring with a mind to a curious, mutually challenging, collaborative culture

Collaborate with cross-functional peers, stakeholders, and leaders (in the Education space, but also in product management, engineering, and marketing at Microsoft) to deliver and complete projects

Improve engineering quality and efficiency of our product with a focus onMicrosoft Learn (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/learn/) ,Learn TV (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/learn/tv/) andDocs (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/)

Improve workflow, product feedback and code review processes

Create ContentWrite technical content for academics, student developers and researchers (e.g. academic curricula, blog posts, videos, code samples) to teach, inspire, and otherwise demonstrate how to develop, manage, and scale machine learning applications on Azure using best practices.

Create impactful customer centered stories that resonate well with the student developer and educator community.

Support and contribute toopen-sourceplatforms, tools, and processes.

Refine ProductHave a fundamental understanding of the higher-education academic space and student lifecycle stages and be able to use that knowledge to help inform product priorities.

Have the ability to work and influence various internal and external stakeholders to understand product direction, marketing, and overall success metrics.

Have end-to-end academic scenarios in mind to test product assumptions and provide feedback when less than ideal academic/student journeys are encountered.

Grow CommunityUnderstand the student/educator community. Mentor students in our programs likeMicrosoft Learn Ambassadors (https://studentambassadors.microsoft.com/) andImagine Cup (https://imaginecup.microsoft.com/)

Engage and grow student/educator communities with a shared passion for technologies centered around common goals.

Support existing student/educator developer communities through Microsoft Reactors, speaking at Education conferences, blogging, and generally creating content.

Build relationships foster a healthy student/educator community and collect and prioritize product feedback and technical blockers with engineering.

QualificationsRequired Qualifications:5+ years of technology engineering experience and demonstrated experience in writing code (e.g. Java, .NET, JavaScript/Node, Python) to build and deploy solutions on the Cloud and write technical content and documentation around them.

1+ years of leadership and people management experience in a technology environment.

Preferred Qualifications:Previous experience (5+ years) as a developer, and/or artificial intelligence/machine learning/data science/computer science educator is a plus.

Passion for helping student developers and educators connect people and communities through the cloud.

Solid communication skills – ability to provide clarity through strong verbal and written communication skills.

A self-starter who can manage and prioritize initiatives that will make our student developers and educators successful on the Microsoft Cloud platform.

Dynamic storyteller passionate about engaging with audiences through internal and external speaking.

Proven experience working with 3rd party communities, social media and blogging.
