QA and Automation Lead Engineer for Globally Known Consumer Device Company – Mountain View, CA
Summary: Work on the front lines of an innovation team in the consumer device industry, managing numerous projects and overseeing a small team of 3 Engineers, as the Automation and QA Lead Engineer. You will be responsible for the overall process from managing large projects, presenting during meetings, making test strategies for the team, leading QA efforts, working with offshore members to ensure the team is completing correct testing and ensuring the projects are in sync from review stage to project completion.Ideal candidates will have 2-4 years of recent Manual leadership experience and have a general understanding of QA and Automation.Responsibilities:- Independently lead QA efforts of a small team (1 member local in the Bay Area and 2 members offshore), drive quality of the project (1-4 at any given time), assess, report product quality risks and ensure quality deliverables in mobile platform.
- When a new project or project tasks come in, utilize your automation knowledge to give direction to the team regarding which tasks can be automated and reach out to the automation team to plan the automation activities.
- Lead the manual efforts and plan for the automation.
- Lead QA efforts, driving the overall project, working with numerous TPM, PM and offshore teams making sure the team is completing the correct testing.
- Represent the team in meetings, sharing test plans and test strategies, prepare and share documentation for meetings.
- Create Test strategy, Test Plan and perform test execution across different devices.
- Ensure comprehensive test coverage by participating in feature and design review with other stakeholders.
- Plan automation testing strategies and timelines/milestones.
- Collaborate with onsite and overseas cross functional teams during project life cycle, PM, developer and TPM for test case review, defect review and risk assessment to ensure quality deliverables.
- Coordination with Offshore team to deliver business goals.
- Analyzing quality data, identifying areas of improvement, and implementing innovative ideas to improve quality solutions.
- Work in fast-paced environment on multiple projects / initiatives
- 3-4 years of web and mobile experience leading manual or hybrid manual and automation projects with exposure to complete project life cycle.
- Previous leadership experience of a small team (1-3+ team members).
- Experience in automation testing and automation planning (coding will not be required).
- Ability to work on multiple simultaneous projects /initiatives.
- Understanding of QA processes and methodologies.
- Experience working with global team with different geographical location
- Good communication skills, show great attention to details and good at preparing detail documentation for project.
- BS/MS in Computer science or similar field
- Experience in defining and executing test strategies for mobile platforms.
