Title: Software Engineer – EV Charger

This engineer will define power conversion control algorithms and develop embedded software for our vehicle’s On-board charger (OBC). The engineer will also work alongside the hardware design team during board bring-up in a high voltage lab environment. This engineer will demonstrate strong overall understanding of C code and Model Based/ Simulink software development and vehicle communications protocols including CAN. Technical skills related to performance on-bench and on-vehicle testing is required. Candidates will be expected to demonstrate a positive attitude and being open to new challenges in a fast-paced environment.

MUST HAVE SKILLS: • Minimum 3 years of developing EV charger embedded software or equivalent experience.• Proficiency in writing and editing embedded C code is required • Knowledge of software development process is required• Technical skills related to performance on-bench and on-vehicle testing is required. • Strong understanding of Model Based/ Simulink software development and vehicle communications protocols including CAN.

NICE TO HAVE SKILLS: • MATLAB, Simulink, Plecs based rapid prototyping systems experience is preferred; Auto-code generation experience is a plus• Basic understanding of agile workflow (Confluence, Jira) is a plus

PREFERRED:• Knowledge in power conversion topologies like AC/DC and DC/DC in EVs. Knowledge in Power factor correction (PFC) and LLC converters is preferred.• Experience using oscilloscopes, multimeters to debug control hardware is preferred.• MATLAB, Simulink, Plecs based rapid prototyping systems experience is preferred; Auto-code generation experience is a plus• Minimum 1 year of experience with planning and conduction of component tests as well as evaluation of test results and reporting, 3 years is preferred • Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and drawings is preferred.

THIS IS WHAT YOU WILL DO:• Design C code and model-based control (MBD) software for a new platform of electric vehicles, specific to the OBC power electronic control unit.• Develop unit level software requirements and initial test cases for Charger functions• Work with system and vehicle level requirement authors to draft and refine Charger specific requirements• Verify system performance to LiveWire standards and work with test and verification engineers to ensure system meets or exceeds targets• Work with reliability engineers to develop DFMEA analysis for the OBC system• Create and support Model in the loop (MIL), Software in the loop (SIL), and Hardware in the loop (HIL) test cases for functional module testing• Contribute efforts to the evaluation and implementation of ISO 26262 standards related to the OBC function. Work products may include Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), HARA, and Functional Safety Requirements writing (FSR)• Knowledge Capture: Work with other system engineering groups, specifically powertrain and program management teams to ensure timely delivery of software releases and support for quality related issues in current production and future vehicles.
