We are looking for an Associate Patient Access Representative for ED Registration at Queen of the Valley!Location : Queen of the Valley Medical Center - Napa, CASchedule : Part-timeShift : 8-hour DaysFUNCTION:Performs all registration functions for patients. This includes collecting accurate demographic information, verifying insurance benefits and eligibility, obtaining authorization/pre-certification for services provided, and collecting patient liability prior to or at the time of service. Greets and serves patients in a professional, friendly, and respectful manner to promote sacred encounters. Performs duties under moderate supervision.SKILLS REQUIRED:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to cordially, professionally and effectively interact with patients, family members, physicians and other Medical Center personnel in a fast-paced environment
Ability to maintain a cooperative working relationship with staff and clinical departments and work in a team environment
Typing and basic computer skill to include: Internet Explorer, Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Office programs
Ability to handle cash and credit/debit card transactions, including collecting and refunding payments to patients/families/employees/customers and balancing cash drawer at end of each shift
Ability to problem solve independently
Strong clerical and organizational skills
Ability to interact with upset clients and behave in a professional manner
Ability to maintain organizational, employee, and patient confidentiality at all times
Knowledge of medical terminology and third party requirements
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
High School graduate or equivalent
One (1) year of experience in a healthcare or customer service setting with proven customer service skills
Demonstrated typing and basic computer skills, including Internet Explorer, Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Office programs
Completion of a medical terminology class, ROP or two (2) years of experience that demonstrates knowledge of CPT and ICD-9 coding
Successful completion of the Patient Access Training modules within ninety (90) days of obtaining position
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bilingual (English and Spanish)
Previous clerical experience in a medical setting
