We are looking for a Staff RN II - CNA (California Nurses Association) for Labor & Delivery at Queen of the Valley!Location: Queen of the Valley Medical Center - Napa, CASchedule: Per DiemShift: 12-hour DaysSUMMARY:The L&D RN independently uses the nursing process to safely, therapeutically and efficiently care for a group of patients. Uses information from a variety of sources to assess, plan, implement, identify outcomes and evaluate patient’s plan of care.FUNCTION: Provides care to low and high risk antepartum, intrapartum and postpartum women andtheir families, using a family-centered approach. Performs fetal heart rate and uterine activity monitoring utilizing external and internal monitoringmethods. Monitors and cares for obstetric patients during the immediate post-delivery and/orpost-operative period. Assesses and cares for newborn infants during their transition to extrauterine life,including provision of resuscitative measures as indicated. Assists obstetric patients with feeding their newborn, whether breast- or bottle-feeding,and provide education regarding the feeding method of choice. Provides routine newborn care, including hearing, bilirubin and metabolic screenings. Provides assistance and education to parents / family regarding infant care, including anticipatory guidance regarding issues which may arise within the first few weeks at home. Provides discharge education, including referrals to community agencies and resources specific to parenting and postpartum care. Ensures compliance with infant security measures and patient safety precautions inthe Maternity Center (e.g., monitoring of visitors, participation in Code Pink drills andalerts, application of identibands and security transmitters). Completes charge forms for the Labor and Delivery, Postpartum, and Well Newborn patients. Attends an advanced fetal monitoring course every two (2) years.JOB QUALIFICATIONS:Experience: Must have more than one (1) year of experience and meet the department specific competenciesLicense / Certification:

Current California RN license

Current BLS certification for Health Care Providers - American Heart Association

Current NRP certification

Current ACLS certification - American Heart Association
