Once reviewed, a member of our employee relations team will reach out to you with a determination.We are currently seeking a Wiring Harness Design Release Engineer to work with hardware engineering teams and suppliers to obtain harness relevant data. You will create and maintain 2D Drawings and merge harness schematics with 3D designs into a consistent data set that we submit to harness manufacturers. The Role- Work with hardware engineering teams and suppliers to obtain harness relevant data
- Create and maintain 2D Drawings
- Select wire to terminal crimp combination
- Work with schematic and mechanical team to develop harness portioning based on best practices and to ease general assembly process
- Ensure DT is translated to Schematics and 2D drawing
- Work with mechanical engineering teams on harness drawings, solving package issues and finalizing connector selection
- Maintain component library (terminals, connectors, cables, wires, etc.)
- Merge harness schematics with 3D designs into a consistent data set that we submit to harness manufacturers
- Implement and conduct data quality checks
- Work with Schematic engineers to configure harness variants for multiple programs and vehicle variants and a variety of different test bench designs
- Work with tool suppliers on integrations to streamline the processes and to improve harness data quality
- Work with Quality Engineers on incoming quality checks and harness rework activities
- Work with supplier change management and implementation process
- Support escalated issues as needed and participate in triaging of issues with different teams and harness suppliers
- Participate in the design of a world class engineering effort to bring electric vehicles to a new level of refinement
- Create rework instructions as in intermediate action and provide a permanent resolution
- Willing to travel 20%
- 3+ years of automotive experience
- Proven experience in harness 2D design and vehicle harness development
- Proven experience with harness schematic tools such as PREEvision
- Detailed knowledge of relevant format such as kbl, xml and others
- Harness packaging experience
- Harness Debugging Skills
- Harness manufacturing experience
- Willing to travel 20%
- Ability to identify and communicate risks, mitigate and drive issues to closure
- You deeply understand mechanical and electrical systems
- Attention to detail, ability to prioritize
- Ability to build stuff with your hands
- Bachelor of Science in the areas of Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, Computer Science or other related fields
