We are looking for an automotive Principal Engineer, Body-In-White . If you're the kind of person who sees a problem, develops a solution, and engineers an improvement no one's asked for yet, then we want to talk with you!

Our ideal candidate exhibits a can-do attitude and approaches his or her work with vigor and determination. Candidates should have demonstrated the ability to learn quickly and work effectively in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment and be excellent at multi-tasking. The Role:
  • Design and engineer the next generation body structure systems, subsystems, and components, from concept to production
  • Set detailed system and component specifications to meet high level functional requirements (crash, NVH, durability)
  • Be at the forefront of new Lucid vehicle, platform, and body structure engineering interfacing with all other hardware teams to balance all simultaneous engineering requirements
  • Develop innovative design solutions based on a deep understanding of engineering fundamentals coupled with in-depth industry experience from concept to launch
  • Be the technical leader for all body structure aspects including structure, joining, materials, performance, water management, sealing and baffles
  • Shape the internal processes surrounding body structure engineering
  • Guide the design engineering team to create well-structured 2D & 3D CAD models of parts, assemblies, joining
  • Closely work with engineering partners in studio, manufacturing, dimensional group, analysis groups
  • Mentor engineers on dimensional strategy and manufacturability, quality and performance
  • Collaborate with test and reliability teams to develop and execute rigorous design and product validation test plans
  • Work closely with Supply Chain and SQA to source, industrialize and PPAP vendors
  • Support production launch and continuous improvement activities as needed
  • Travel domestically and internationally as required

Qualifications:
  • At least 10 years of relevant experience in automotive body structures
  • Demonstrated track record of excellence and innovation yielding tangible results in one (or more) products currently on the road
  • Good CAD skills - preferably CATIA V6/3DX
  • Extensive experience designing for various manufacturing processes, joining technologies, and materials including (but not limited to) stamping, casting, extrusions, aluminum & steel, self-piercing rivets, structural adhesive
  • Excellent organization and project management skills and ability to easily understand change management, product data management, and bill of material
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proactive, ownership mindset and strong work ethic
  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced, rapidly changing environment
  • Collaborative, team player personality enjoying the mentoring of engineers
  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering required
