The efficiency and capability of the Lucid Air thermal system is one of the key enablers in achieving the performance metrics that we have. We are currently seeking a motivated Sr. Mechanical Engineer to join the high voltage battery team and own the 3D mechanical design, development and manufacturing of all Battery Pack and Module and Thermal Components.
  • The Role:

  • Ownership of battery thermal component design for current and future products
  • Develop new concepts, design prototypes, and validate them through test plans
  • Diligently follow standards for part and drawing design
  • Work closely with Battery System engineers to meet thermal requirements
  • Work closely with suppliers to ensure requirements are met
  • Work autonomously, with minimal direction
  • Qualifications:

  • Experience designing multiple products that have shipped in volume
  • Ability to demonstrate a first-principles engineering approach
  • Ability to demonstrate critical thinking and reach conclusions based on data
  • Excellent 3D CAD skills in at least one professional CAD package
  • Solid understanding of high-volume manufacturing and joining processes such as injection molding, extrusions, stamping and brazing
  • Solid understanding of GD&T standards
  • Solid understanding of heat transfer, material selection and DFM principles
  • History of working independently with limited oversight
  • Ability to mitigate unforeseen problems creatively and effectively
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Preferred:

  • Competency in Catia (V5 or V6)
  • Previous Experience designing parts complex automotive thermal architectures
  • Competent in complex molded and overmolded part design
  • The ability to show and explain extra-curricular activities that demonstrate initiative and a genuine passion in a similar or related field. This could be a conversation piece or a more formal portfolio of work
  • Education:

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent degree
