Audit and Reimbursement Auditor III will support audit activities of healthcare
providers’ financial and statistical records in accordance with Government
Auditing Standards (GAS). The Auditor III will be responsible for the
auditing activities associated with performing audits and desk reviews of increasingly
more difficult provider cost reports as part of our Medicare
Administrative Contract (MAC) with the Federal Government (The Centers for
Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) branch of the Department of Health and
Human Services). The auditor will receive training, participate in audit
related workload, mentor, and have opportunities to participate on special
projects.If this job is assigned
to any Government Business Division entity, the applicant and incumbent fall
under a 'sensitive position' work designation and may be subject to additional
requirements beyond those associates outside Government Business Divisions. Requirements
include but are not limited to more stringent and frequent background checks
and/or government clearances, segregation of duties principles, role specific
training, monitoring of daily job functions, and sensitive data handling
instructions. Associates in these jobs must follow the specific policies,
procedures, guidelines, etc. as stated by the Government Business Division in

completing the Uniform Desk Review/Audit Program on provider submitted Medicare
cost reportsDocument findings,
prepare detailed work papers and present audit adjustment reports in accordance
with GAS and CMS requirementsAnalyze and interpret data
per a provider’s trial balance, financial statements, financial documents or
other related healthcare recordsStay abreast with
applicable Federal Laws, regulations, policies and audit proceduresRespond timely and
accurately to customer inquiriesPerform additional
audit assignments as requestedAbility to use
effective communication and interaction skillsAbility to multi- task
while independently and effectively prioritizing work using time management,
initiative, project management and problem-solving skillsMentor new and less
experienced staffEvaluate the less complicated work performed by
the audit staffRequirements :Requires a BA/BS degree
(preferably in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or Healthcare
Management) with 2-4 years of Medicare cost report experience, or 5-7 years of
MAC audit/reimbursement experience or related Medicare cost report experienceDemonstrated
understanding of accounting principles, auditing theories, or math concepts
obtained through formal education and/or work related experienceMust possess effective
verbal and written communication skillsExperience in Microsoft
Office Word, Excel, and OutlookEffective organization
and time management skillsEffective problem
solving skillsExcellent interpersonal
skills with the ability to establish working relationships with individuals at
varying levels within the organizationMust be able and
willing to travelThe skills/competencies
listed below are preferred but not required: 5-7 years of Medicare
audit/reimbursement or related Medicare experienceThorough knowledge
of Medicare Part A Laws, regulations, program manuals and audit policiesThorough knowledge of
CMS computer systemsCertified Public
Accountant (CPA) or Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) or CPA Eligible Under
guided supervision, responsible for the more skilled auditing activities
associated with performing regulatory, contractual, and operational audits.
