Lead DevOps Engineer

We are partnered with a fast-paced growing Fin/PropTech company who is looking to add a Lead DevOps Engineer to their team. The Lead DevOps Engineer will help configure, build, and maintain the company's scalable and efficient cloud infrastructure that supports internal and client facing applications.

Onsite or remote flexibility based on candidate location. Must be fully vaccinated, except for legal exemptions.

Responsibilities:
  • Day-to-day management and support of AWS environments, applications, and processes
  • Closely collaborate with development, data, and QA teams (on and offshore) to implement best practices and automation, with security, scalability, and operability in mind
  • Architect, explore and evaluate new technologies contributing to systems design and deployment of new products/releases
  • Develop tools to rapidly deploy and effectively monitor and troubleshoot application stacks and critical infrastructure
  • Ensure high reliability and performance of application infrastructure
  • Review incoming platform alerts and handle or escalate the alerts within a defined SLA.
  • Define and enforce policies and procedures around security, deployment, and cloud infrastructure
  • Manage DevOps team (onshore and offshore resources) - HR responsibilities, mentoring, recruiting, scrum
  • Collaborate with 3rd party vendors
Qualifications:
  • 7+ years of software/engineering experience as a senior contributor
  • 5+ years of DevOps experience working with AWS in production SaaS environments
  • Demonstrated command of AWS technologies in multiple areas: compute, network, storage, database, serverless, security, application monitoring and spend monitoring
  • Proficient scripting skills in Python and SQL
  • Experience with automated infrastructure provisioning (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation), Docker containers, and related orchestration tools as well as configuration management technology
  • Ability to independently solve problems and build robust solutions and enjoy working with minimal supervision within an Agile/Scrum environment
  • Ability to mentor the development teams and evangelize DevOps culture and practices
  • Experience managing direct reports
  • Experience implementing automated deployments (e.g. bitbucket pipelines)
  • Strong troubleshooting skills spanning code, systems, security, networking, log aggregation
  • Must enjoy collaborative problem solving, have excellent communication skills, and demonstrate attention to detail
  • Track record of keeping up with new cloud technologies, languages, security, standards, and practices
  • AWS disaster recovery design and deployment across regions a plus
