Our client is in Orange County, Ca and a leader in their field is actively looking for a Sr. Linux Administrator with good working knowledge of RedHat/ Centos/ Oracle Linux, NIS and DNS. AWS a plus. This can either be a contract to hire or full-time position.
Position Description Summary:This position will support all server operating systems and server system software, including the installation, optimization, monitoring and administration of systems and applications to ensure that these applications perform at their highest levels. This position requires expert knowledge in a variety of operating systems, virtual environments, cloud, Linux, Windows server, storage systems, data center server infrastructure and operation, network architecture and application environment.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:- Monitor all servers for performance issues and stability concerns.
- Regular application installations, configurations, service patches, and day-to-day administration.
- Troubleshoot hardware and software issues as they arise.
- Staying familiar with new versions of applications used on servers.
- Strong experience with DHCP, DNS, Active Directory, LDAP, NIS, RDS and Certificate Services.
- Work with Linux, Unix and Microsoft Servers.
- Support AWS hybrid cloud environments
- Support VMware virtual environments
- Document issues and associated resolutions to problems.
- At least 10 years practical experience in a complex, multiplatform environment.
- Expert knowledge of Unix / Linux and Microsoft server operating systems, along with scripting tools, utility software, and high availability software on these platforms.
- Expertise with administration and configuration of various application platforms and servers.
- In-depth knowledge of system and high availability application architectures and typical application-system dependences and APIs.
- Familiar with TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS, WINS, Active Directory, LDAP, NIS, and related network protocols and services.
- Familiar with server administration in VMware environment
- Familiar with Cloud computing, specifically with AWS.
- Ability to quickly adapt to new applications, managing the interaction between the application and the OS to ensure optimal performance.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; able to deal effectively with diverse skill sets and personalities, works effectively as a team player.
- Creative and organized with a proven ability to prioritize workload, meet deadlines, and utilize time effectively.
- Executes all job responsibilities and assignments promptly, reliably, honestly, and ethically. Above-average oral, written and presentation skills
- Good communications skills with ability to understand and establish written and /or verbal instructions.
- B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent and relevant degree; work experience in lieu of degree may be considered
