Your Team

While everyone at Baxter has a shared passion for our mission, the R&D teams play a meaningful role in our ability to save and sustain lives. The Irvine R&D team is focused upon next generation product development for treating those afflicted with COPD. This position will work from product requirements to generate specifications, designs and contribute to verification, validation and design transfer!

What you'll be doing
  • Generate technical specifications and designs consistent with design requirements.
  • Support human factors and usability workstreams so that products can be optimally validated and fulfill user needs.
  • Collaborate with the Program Manager and R&D management to assure that project plans are comprehensive and complete.
  • Direct and drive all technical aspects of the development of Class II medical devices.
  • Prepare and present technical design reviews.
  • Direct technician(s) and other assigned personnel to complete builds, testing, documentation on an as-needed basis.
  • Plan, implement, and deliver all required DHF artifacts for assigned designs in a timely manner.

What you'll bring
  • BSME or equivalent
  • 8+ years; of work experience in a medical device company
  • Knowledge and experience with heat transfer and thermodynamics
  • Expert understanding of injection molding for thermoplastic and elastomer parts
  • Experience with biocompatibility and material selection
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with rigorous design verification
  • Solid understanding of statistics
  • Self-starter able and willing to work in a small team, fast paced environment
  • Experience with pneumatics and respiratory care devices or disposables a plus
