Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.Northrop Grumman is currently seeking a Deputy Chief Engineer to support the design and development effort in our Stand-in Attack Weapon (SiAW) missile program and work with our talented Advanced Weapons team in Northridge, CA.In this role, you will be involved in all aspects of the development and management of the technical baseline for the SiAW weapon system supporting the Chief Engineer. You will support the management, oversight, and communication of the SiAW technical baseline to internal and external stakeholders. You will support the day-to-day technical baseline management and oversight of engineering aspects within the SiAW development program. You will work to ensure engineering teams adhere to sound engineering processes, in the development, production, and test of the SiAW system. Support the continuous coordination between the Chief Engineer and program integration team leaders to ensure the execution of program statement of work and baselines. Strong communication, collaboration, leadership, and team building skills are essential. Successful candidates are self-starting and self-motivated. Candidates must be comfortable working in a dynamic, fast paced, aerospace team environment and possess proficiency in analytical thinking, problem solving, and ability to interface across the different engineering teams. This position will require close collaboration with the Advanced Weapons engineering team and SiAW customer engineering organization.In this role, the selected candidate will (but not be limited to):

In partnership with the Chief Engineer, support day-to-day technical baseline management

Support inter-team, inter-site, and customer communications with respect to the developing SiAW technical baseline

Support contract execution as a technical authority for engineering aspects for the SiAW missile

Support oversight of technical activities within and across requirements, architecture, hardware, and software development, and integration and test activities

Solve technical problems and provide solutions that are technically sound and programmatically executable

Support technical communications across internal and external stakeholders through coordination of weekly communications , and customer technical interchanges and working groups

Ensure program is adhering to engineering processes and best practices in design, development, fabrication/assembly, test, and sustainment of products for both internal and external customers and is compliant with company policies, procedures, and quality standards

Drive process development, continuous improvement, and quality standards

Support overall digital transformation within the SiAW technical team and SiAW customer community

Quickly respond to tasking as directed by the SiAW Chief Engineer and SiAW Engineering Execution Manager

Evaluate integration and test discoveries and work with the Chief Engineer and Responsible Engineers to develop appropriate corrective actions

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) field & 9 years of related technical experience; Master's degree in a STEM field & 7 years of related technical experience, or PHD in a STEM field; 4 years of related technical experience

Current Active Secret Clearance or higher with a Periodic Reinvestigation within the last 5 years.

Experience in DoD missile system development programs

Experience directly managing or leading engineering teams

Experience as SME, Technical lead, Integrated Product Team (IPT) Lead, Chief Engineer, or other engineering leadership role that demonstrated team building, organizational, and interpersonal skills

Expertise understanding of the Design, Manufacturing, and Test process

Expertise in Systems Development, Integration, and Test

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with Agile Program/Project Planning and Management

Experience with Digital Engineering/JIRA/Confluence/Industry 4.0/DevOps/Model Based Systems Engineering/Model Based Design

Experience across all phases of a program lifecycle

Experience in Risk and Opportunity Management

Experience managing external suppliers

Experience in conducting trade studies

Demonstrated success as a Chief Engineer or Deputy Chief Engineer

Post graduate degree in STEM or technical management

Active DoD Top Secret clearance

Experience in proposal execution

Salary Range: $129,700 USD - $194,500 USDEmployees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
