Senior Oracle/MySQL DB Engineer Our direct client is one of the Health care Clients. They are currently in urgent need of an experienced Senior Oracle/MySQL DB Engineer. This is a Contract to Hire role located in California. Job Description: The Senior DB Engineer is responsible for the design, development, implementation, and administration of database architecture that supports business objectives. This specialist proactively diagnoses and resolves problems affecting overall database stability and performance. He/she participates and when necessary, leads projects and performs additional duties as required. The successful candidate will work with a cross-section of internal IT organizations, including Systems, Storage, and Network Engineering, Operations (Database/System/Network/Storage), Application Development, and the management team. This position requires excellent analytical skills, time management and project planning skills, excellent communication and documentation skills. Ability to prioritize and multi-task, ability to routinely make effective and timely decisions in alignment with departmental direction is required. Responsibilities

  • Perform cost estimates for the new database systems.
    • Design and build new Database systems on-Prem and in Public Cloud (AWS)
    • Comply with release management, change management and quality assurance standards
    • Perform installation, upgrade, patching, administration, troubleshooting of Oracle/MySQL systems
    • Evaluate and implement new technologies, software products, conduct POC
    • Produce required documentation, conduct formal presentations and training session
    • Identify and implement process improvements and automation in various database aspects
    • Proactively tune database systems to meet business SLAs
    • Plan and implement effective backup/recovery and business continuity strategies
    • Design, test, implement, and maintain high availability solutions
    • Perform capacity planning for future systems, evaluate resource usage, such as storage, memory, CPU, and develop plans for future growth requirements
    • Act as Subject Matter Expert in an assigned area
    • Must have the ability and willingness to be available off-hours, weekends
    • 10+ year experience in overall Oracle database administration on Linux/Unix platforms
    • 3+ year experience in MySQL installation, administration, backup, DR, including MySQL Clusters
    • Minimum 8+ year experience with hands-on Oracle 11g/12c/19c on Linux/Unix platforms
    • Minimum 5+ year experience with Oracle 12c including multi-tenancy, Data Compression, Oracle Advanced Security Transparent Data Encryption, Oracle Key Vault
    • Minimum 10+ year experience in production support, resolution of complex operational and performance issues in OLTP and DataWarehouse environments. Strong experience in performance tuning: SQL, instance, database
    • Strong experience (8+ years) with Oracle RAC, load balancing, failover, workload management capabilities, ASM.
